On the cover of the new Deerof album, Noble and Godlike in Ruin, is a picture of the band – Satomi Matsuzaki, Ed Rodriguez, John Dieteich, and Greg Saunier – together in exotic Visage. Given that the title of the album was drawn directly from Frankstein from Mary Shellley, this paved assembly together is logical, but it also doubles as a useful metaphor for Deerhoof identity as a group. Together, it equals more than the total number of their parts; Working together in radical cooperation, they become a technician in rock music. . .
