Ralph Norman calls for the redistribution of South Carolina to oust the lonely democrat

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
First on Fox: The representative Ralph Norman, RS.C., calls on his state to join the growing struggle on the country’s congress maps – with the eyes of the Democrat of his delegation alone.
Norman told Fox News Digital on Wednesday, which he wanted the South Carolina General Assembly to return its district lines, which, according to him, is more in line with the Republican majorities of the state of Palmetto in the state and the state Senate.
“We have republican supermajes in Southern Carolina. Use them to create more competition in our seats in the congress. I have no doubt that Republicans can succeed in all parts of our state,” said Norman.
Norman, who presents himself for the governor, said that this would make the southern South Carolina seats to the House of Representatives “more competitive” and that it would make our house delegation from 6-1 to 7-0 “.

“This will help increase republican control of the congress and help President Trump to pass his program. Each vote has a conservative president Mike Johnson rather than a liberal president Hakeem Jeffries from New York,” said Norman.
And although he did not give more details on how he wanted this card to seem, he mentioned the only democrat, the long -standing representative Jim Clyburn, DS.C., by name.
“Jim Clyburn is a kind man and I respect him. But it is a liberal democrat who helped put Joe Biden in the White House,” said Norman. “This is not the kind of representation that South Carolina needs.”
Clyburn is indeed a close ally of former president Joe Biden. His support was essential for Biden to win the 2020 Democratic primary in South Carolina, a victory that was decisive in putting forward the crowded race.
It also represents the 6th district of the Southern Carolina Congress since 1993.

The 6th Congress district was first of all gerrymandered to give the Carolinians of the South Blacks a greater representation in the early 1990s, which led to the only mainly black district of the State.
The card of the South Carolina Congress has however seen partisan fights in recent years.
In 2024, the United States Supreme Court annulled a lower justice decision according to which an indicator diluted by a republican unfairly diluted the power of black voters, mainly in the 1st district of the South Carolina Congress, which is neighbors of Clyburn.
The conservative majority of the High Court judged 6-3 that the district was redesigned according to partisan lines, rather than racial, and could therefore legally be maintained.
Rediscovery is traditionally carried out after the American census, which is taken every decades, to take into account population changes in various states.

Norman’s call to redraw the lines comes after the push of the Texas Republicans to create a new Congress map which would give the GOP up to five new seats in the House of Representatives.
He sparked a political storm across the country, with liberal states like New York and California committing to follow the plunge.
There are now also discussions in several states on potentially restarting the district lines.
