Putin, Kim Jong speaks in Beijing after the massive Chinese military parade

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea chief Kim Jong Un, met on Wednesday after attending a Chinese military parade celebrating the anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

Putin and Kim gathered at the Diaoyutai State guest house in Beijing after spending time with other world leaders, including Chinese president Xi Jinping, during the parade.

The two men went to bilateral talks in the same car after leaving an official reception, according to the Kremlin on social networks, according to the Associated Press.

Putin launched the meeting by praising the North Korean soldiers for their “bravery and heroism” in the fights alongside the Russian troops in the Moscow War against Ukraine, according to the AP, which said that the North Korean specifically helped Ukraine from attacking the Kursk border region of Russia.

South Korea estimates that 15,000 North Korean troops have been sent to Russia since last year.

In addition to the workforce, North Korea has also provided Moscow ballistic missiles and artillery, among other military equipment.

Kim said his country’s cooperation with Russia has “considerably strengthened” since last June when the two leaders have signed a strategic partnership.

Kim did not mention the Russian-Ukraine war, by the AP, but told Putin that he would do “everything that is possible to help” the inhabitants of Russia in all the necessary ways.

“If there is something I can do for you and for the inhabitants of Russia, if there is more things to do, I will consider it as a fraternal duty, an obligation that we must surely bear, and I will be ready to do everything possible to help,” said Kim, according to the AP.

The bilateral meeting between the two notes the first time that Kim has been in Beijing since 2019 when he seeks to strengthen links with China and Russia.

Kim had his superior party and his government representatives, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Choe Son-Hui, with him during the trip, added KCNA.

The visit comes a few weeks after the South Korean president Lee Jae Myung met President Donald Trump In Washington, DC, where he underlined trilateral cooperation to counter nuclear and advanced missile programs in North Korea.
