Russian President Vladimir Putin said he agreed with Donald Trump’s assertion that the war in Ukraine did not even have started if he had not lost the 2020 elections and was president at the start of the carnage, instead of former president Joe Biden.

“I can confirm it,” said Putin at the end of a press conference that took place Friday evening after the pair met for a summit with Elmendorf-Richardson base in Anchorage, Alaska.

Trump made this statement several times on the campaign track and continued to say it after taking over the White House. Trump has faced a decline in the complaint, as well as the affirmations that Ukraine triggered the creation of the war and the Biden administration has not done things that could have thwarted it from the start.

“I would like to add one more thing,” said Putin, while the two heads of state made comments to the press, according to a translation of the address of the Russian president. “I would like to remind you that in 2022, during the last contact with a previous administration, I tried to convince my previous American colleague that the situation should not be put on a return point when it would happen to hostilities and I said it quite directly when it is a big mistake. Today, when President Trump says that if he was the president.”

Earlier in his speech, Putin deplored that bilateral relations between the United States and Russia, before Trump, “fell at the lowest point since the Cold War” and stressed the fact that there had been no heights between the United States and Russia in the last four years.

Trump’s meeting perspective with Putin was criticized by criticism, who compared the scene on Friday when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met Trump in the White House.

The infamous meeting has seen Zelenskyy publicly competing for the round trips with Trump and other senior administration leaders, while President Trump criticized the Ukrainian president for his approach to end the war.
