Pro-Palestinian president urges “destroy the idea of America”

On Friday, a panelist speaking of the “popular conference for Palestine” in Detroit called the United States “an evil country” and expressed the need to “destroy the idea of America in the heads of the Americans”.
Speaking on a panel entitled “No weapons for genocide: people ask for an embargo on arms”, Sachin Peddada, a doctorate. A student in economics and research coordinator at Progressive International, has repeatedly destroyed in the United States as an “empire” motivated by greed.
In response to a question about how Americans can get more involved, Peddada paraphrased a quote from the deceased Palestinian author Basel al-Araj, saying: “The average American will never understand the fate of the Palestinian person because the state of Israel is a carbon copy of the United States.
“And, therefore, the thing to do is to destroy the idea of America in the heads of the Americans so that they can see the humanity of everyone outside the distortion of American exceptionalism and imperialism and all these bad things.”
As Peddada said these words, the crowd broke out in applause.

Peddada continued, saying: “We must dismantle this idea of American exceptionalism, supremacy, to be beyond the reproach.
“I think it is very important that we normalize criticism as a healthy process and learn from our experiences in the world to push the limits of what is possible, continue to fight for more and more and see how the Empire reacts to us, to continue to push further and more.”
At another moment of the panel, Peddada said: “We live in an evil country”.
He said that, since October 7, 2023, “we can say with certainty that the United States has been the most accomplice country – the accomplice is not even the right word to use – but the most responsible country of what is happening not only in Gaza but also in the West Bank and also in the world South.”
Peddada said the United States is a country that “functionally for decades has been the only superpower in the world” and has “a program that is mainly motivated by the accumulation of profit to the detriment of human life.

“To obscure this point or beat around the bush, we do not serve ourselves; we live in an evil country, that’s exactly what is happening,” he said when the crowd has applauded again.
“It doesn’t mean we’re all bad,” he added. “But that means that we have a unique responsibility. We have a unique position here at the heart of the Empire to act in solidarity with all our brothers and sisters in Gaza and in the West Bank, all over the world.”
Commenting on the remarks, a user on X posted: “As a American, I find that.”

The popular conference for Palestine, organized by a dozen pro-Palestinian groups, started on Friday and will take place on Sunday. Even before the start, the rally was the subject of a meticulous examination for having presented speakers with extremist opinions, including two former prisoners of Israel released in an agreement of Hamas, alongside the representative Rashida Tlaib, d-mich., An eminent anti-Israeli deputy.

The conference opened its doors on Friday afternoon with an elaborate opening ceremony, in which a speaker, after driving the crowd in songs, invited the participants to get up for “our national anthem” while a group began playing a song in a foreign language. People carrying keffiyehs have entered, holding Palestinian flags.
Fox News Digital contacted progressive international and the popular conference for Palestine to comment but did not immediately receive an answer.
