Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and the mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, filed a complaint Monday To prevent the Trump administration from deploying hundreds of troops from the Illinois National Guard and Texas in Chicago and in the surrounding cities.
Judicial challenge is the last confrontation between the States led by Democrats and the Trump administration against the so-called “federalization” of President Donald Trump, with governors in California, Oregon and others pursuing similar proceedings.
State and city leaders are looking for an emergency prohibition order to immediately trigger Trump’s attempts to deploy national guard troops in the state and longer -term injunctive relief.
The trial comes a week after Pritzker and other state and local leaders held a press conference to share the news of Trump’s request to authorize the troops of the National Guard in order to “protect the staff and ice facilities”. It is not known whether the guard troops in question will be the troops of the Illinois National Guard or the members of the National Guard of neighboring States.

“What I warned is now being achieved,” said Pritzker on Monday. “One thing is clear: nothing that Trump does is to make the Illinois safer.”
“It is not a question of fighting against crime or public security. It is a question of sowing fear, intimidation and division among the Americans,” he said, promising to fight “with everything we have”.
Illinois’ action occurs a few days after federal immigration officials were seen walking in the city center of Chicago in complete tactical and mask equipment.
Pritzker, who criticized the effort as an act of “authoritarianism”, noted that the immigration agents seen over the weekend seemed to be “large weapons” and were identified along the avenue Michigan in Chicago, along the Chicago river and outside the Millennium Park – all the areas which are generally frequented by tourists and residents.
“This does not make anyone safe – it is a demonstration of intimidation, instilling fear in our communities and harming our businesses,” said Pritzker on social networks. “We cannot normalize American cities and American suburbs,” he added.

“No president can flout the Constitution,” said the Attorney General of Illinois, Kwame Raoul on Monday. “The rule is important in the state of Illinois.”

Trump, for his part, went to social networks during the weekend to aim for what seemed to be an interaction between federal agents and demonstrators in the city of Broadview, Illinois, just outside Chicago.
“The border patrol will not take any absurdity!” Said Trump.
Trump for months has threatened to deploy troops of the National Guard in Illinois in the context of this effort, which caused animated criticism from the State Democrats, notably Pritzker, and the mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, who described the presence of the ice agent in the city during the city like “another cheeky provocation of the Trump administration” security”.
The two strongly condemned the repression of Trump immigration and attempts to deploy federal troops in cities and states led by Democrats. They reiterated this assertion yesterday, describing the effort as a simple “pretext” for the deployment of federal agents in Chicago and the surrounding area.

The trial comes as leaders of other states led by Democrats have moved to continue the Trump administration for its repression of federalization.
The Attorney General of Oregon, Dan Rayfield, announced on Saturday that they were continuing the Trump administration about his deployment of the national guard troops, echoing the argument of Pritzker and Johnson that Trump did not have the legal basis to do so.
He argued on the “morning Joe” of MSNBC that Trump “exceeded his authority” by calling the troops, because there is no invasion or rebellion in the United States or in Oregon – or the two conditions by which the president can call the national guard against the objections of the state.

“What’s going on in California, DC, Memphis, potentially Illinois and now Oregon-this normalization that you can use the American army in our cities-that is to say,” said Rayfield.
“In all the places where it happens, you will see the prosecutors General Democrats get up, trace a line in the sand and say no, we must have this American conversation because it is a non-American action of our president,” he added.
