The president of the room, Mike Johnson, R-La., Rejected the request of the Top House Democrat for a debate during prime time on the closure of the government.

The leader of the minority Hakeem Jeffries, Dn.y., wrote to Johnson on Monday morning to challenge him a debate on the floor of the room “all day this week”, to broadcast live “to the American people”.

Johnson suggested that he would not entertain that, however, calling the move a “advertising” to journalists the same morning.

“When the survey says that around 13% of people approve your messaging, you make desperate pleads for attention, and that’s what Hakeem Jeffries did,” said Johnson.

“We discussed all of this on the floor of the room. As you know, before spending our bill, he spoke for seven or eight minutes. He had all his colleagues aligned. They gave their best blow, and they discussed, and they trampled and shouted in the Senate.

The chamber speaker referred to a federal federal financing bill aimed at maintaining the government until November 21, in order to give Congress negotiators for more time to adopt the expenditure priorities of the financial year (Exc) 2026.

This bill adopted the chamber largely according to the party parties – with two opposing Republicans and a supporting democrat – but blocked in the Senate.

“The room has done its job. I’m not going to let Hakeem try to pretend to be theaters. I mean, it is a (leader of the minority of the Senate Chuck Schumer, Dn.y.). The ball is now in front of the Senate court,” said Johnson.

“We don’t need to waste time on these nonsense. These debates have been had. I mean, Hakeem is a friend and a colleague. I respect him, but we all know what he is trying to do there.”

The government is on its sixth day of the current closure, the Democrats of the Senate having rejected the financing plan led by the GOP four times.

Democrats in the Chamber and the Senate, furious while being sidelined in the federal funding talks, put pressure for an extension of reinforced Obamacare subsidies during the Pandemic COVID-19. These improvements would expire by the end of 2025 without action of the congress.

“The Democrats have been clear and consistent in our position. The country needs immediate and bipartisan negotiations between the White House and the Congress Management in order to achieve an enlightened expenditure agreement which reopens the government, improves the life of workers’ taxpayers and addresses the republican Healthcare Crisis on Monday.

“Unfortunately, Donald Trump and your party have decided to close the government, because the GOP refuses to provide health care to everyday Americans. In addition, you have kept Republicans in the House of Holidays instead of working with Democrats to reopen the government.”
