The Ministry of War announced Tuesday that secretary Pete Hegseth decided to end the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in Services (Dacowits), a civil advisory group which provides recommendations on policies affecting women in the American armed forces.

In a declaration to Fox News Digital, the press secretary of the Ministry of War, Kingsley Wilson, described the committee as “divisor”.

“After a more in -depth examination, the secretary (Pete) Hegseth decided to put an end to the Advisory Committee for Defense on Women in Services,” Wilson wrote. “The committee focuses on the progress of a divisor feminist program which affects combat preparation, while Secretary Hegseth focused on the progress of uniform and neutral sex standards through the department.”

The Dacowits website notes that it focuses on recruitment, retention, employment, integration, well-being and treatment of women.

The members of the Committee collect data through information, written responses, contribution of experts and direct interactions with the discussion groups of the members of the service during installation visits.

While 17.7% of the members of the US military service are women, the 2023 demographic report of the Ministry of War called for the body of the Marines to fully integrate the training of recruits at the level of the peloton and to use teams of mixed drilling instructors.

The report has also suggested adopting new body composition standards of sex and breed and reviewing the last 10 years of sex and breed promotion data.

As one of the oldest advisory committees in the War Department, Dacowits claim that its recommendations have “historically contributed to changes to the laws and policies concerning military women”, according to the site.

Other less controversial recommendations in the 2023 Committee report included the guarantee of the timely distribution of air security equipment specific to women, the normalization of maternity leave, the updating of maternity uniforms for function and professionalism and the distinction between sexual harassment and discriminatory harassment based on sex.

Since 1951, the Committee said it has submitted more than 1,100 recommendations to the Secretary of War, with approximately 94% complete or partial adoption by the Ministry, in 2025.

“His agenda – which promotes gender quotas, women in combat roles and basic training integrated into the genre – weakens the fundamental objective of the army: fighting and winning wars,” wrote Nancy Mr. Pfotenhauer, president at the time of the forum of independent women, in a 2002 press release.
