The Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, came out strong on Friday morning, announcing a transport for “historic” fundraising of $ 2.9 million in the last three months for his republican Senate campaign.
Paxton, Maga champion and long -standing ally of President Donald Trump – who has been beaten over the past decade by several controversies – is the main long -standing senator of GOP John Cornyn, Texas, in what promises to be an expensive and bitter brutal battle.
The announcement of Paxton fundraising occurred a few hours after a new development rocked the main race of Lone Start State.
Paxton’s wife, Senator of the State of Texas Angela Paxton, a Republican, announced Thursday that she had filed a divorce from her longtime husband.

“Today, after 38 years of marriage, I asked for divorce for biblical reasons,” wrote the state senator in an article on social networks.
“I believe that marriage is a sacred alliance and I have seriously looked for reconciliation,” she added. “But in the light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that she honors God or that she loves for me, my children or Ken to stay in marriage.”
In his own statement, Ken Paxton said that “after having been faced with pressure from countless political attacks and public exams, Angela and I decided to start a new chapter in our lives”.
The Attorney General added that “I could not be more proud or grateful for the incredible family of which God blessed us, and I remain determined to support our incredible children and grandchildren. I ask for your prayers and your private life at the moment.”
Trump Ally Paxton launches the Senate Primary Challenge in Texas
Paxton, who won the elections for the first time as Texas Attorney General in 2014 and was re -elected twice, was dismissed a few years ago by the Texas House of Representatives on allegations of corruption, which included allegations linked to an extraconarial case. He was then acquitted by the State Senate.
A veteran republican strategist based in Texas, when asked how the divorce bomb would have an impact on the Senate primary, said the key was whether there were more detrimental revelations to come.

“Most of the people I talk about expect much more details in this story than republican primary voters will not be too happy,” said the strategist, who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely. “I think there is much more to come and soon.”
Paxton, in his collection of fundraising, stressed that he had been “breathtaking by the support that I have received since the launch of my campaign. The basic movement to draw John Cornyn continues to strengthen each day, and this is only the start.”
“Our voters are delighted to send John Cornyn to pack for years, which is why he has lost more than 20 points, and his campaign becomes more and more desperate,” said Paxton, when he underlined a certain number of recent surveys indicating his advance on the senator.
Thanks to its solid support among Magi World, the survey was never the problem of Paxton to face Cornyn.
The most important question was whether he could compete financially with a senator in a history of solid fundraising.
The Cornyn campaign has not yet announced its fundraising in the second quarter. But the Texans for a conservative majority, a Super Cap aligned by Cornyn, announced on July 1 that they had collected $ 10.9 million in the last three months.
A Consultant separated from the GOP in Texas, who also asked for anonymity, said Paxton had to quickly answer questions to make sure that supporters and donors do not jump the ship.

“People who support him with their public support, such as elected officials, or people who support him financially, will want answers very quickly, like today, what are the damage. Is it true? Do you deny it?, What other problems can arise if your spouse seeks to tell their version of the truth,” said the consultant.
And the consultant noted that what Paxton’s wife said in the future will be crucial.
“The State Senator Angele Paxton had been alongside Ken during the whole saga in the last decade and near and personal with all the problems he has been accused. She has been at the center of everything.”
Although the Cornyn campaign has not published any statement concerning the news of the divorce, it published a press release entitled: “The terrible week of Ken Paxton”.
He included an article on Matt Schaeffer’s social networks, a former conservative member of the state legislature who argued that “Paxton is morally unfit to hold office”.
While Trump has remained neutral to primary so far, the head of the majority of the Senate John Thune and the National Republican Senate Committee (NRSC) support Cornyn.

The GOP representative, Wesley Hunt of Texas, speaks during the 1
There is a possibility that another Republican could enter the primary of the Senate.
The representative of three Wesley Hunt mandates, an upward magazine that represents a district of the Houston region, thought about a race for the Senate. Sources have confirmed to Fox News earlier this year that Hunt had pleaded for the political team of President Donald Trump according to which he is the only person who can gain both a GOP primary and a general election.

And Friday, a Texas -based Conservative Strategist who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely, told Fox News that he thought that “Hunt is still the only candidate in Texas who can win the primary and general elections”.
Another consultant noted that “the possibility that Ken leaves the race changes in a spectacular way dynamics” and that “it absolutely gives hunting to think”.
Hunt, with Cornyn and the GOP senator, Ted Cruz, joined the president on Friday on a flight from the national capital to Texas aboard the Air Force One, while Trump went to the state to question the damage of the horrible floods which made the headlines this week.
