A relative unknown so far, Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani has propelled himself to an astonishing victory upset in the Democratic primary of New York after having run on a platform which included a list of extreme left points, including government expenditure, tax increases for companies and rich and radical democrats.
The head of campaign promises was his wish to redirect the tax funds for private grocery chains to create a network of cities grocery storeWho, according to him, will be “focused on pricing, making no profit”.
In a video of Tiktok, Mamdani said that his grocery stores managed by the city “will work without reason for profit”, instead of focusing on “prices of prices” as he alleged that certain private stores do it. He said that without having to pay rent or land taxes, these stores managed by the city will buy and sell at wholesale prices, centralize storage and distribution, and could offer New York residents lower than those of private stores in the city.
“The prices of the grocery store are out of control,” he said in the video. “The work of the government of the city is not to tinker on the edges while 1 in 4 children in our city is hungry.”
The Republicans use the victory of the bomb in Mamdani over Cuomo as ammunition to explode democrats as extremists

Another central principle of Mamdani’s campaign was his wish to repress “bad owners” by asking the city to take control of the properties when an owner refuses to make repairs or “demonstrate constant negligence” of their tenants. He also believes that he can repair the affordable New York housing crisis by immediately freeing the rents of the more than two million New York residents who live in rent stabilized apartments.
To fight against the city’s security crisis, Mamdani said that he would create a new government agency called the Ministry of Community Security (DCS) which, according to him, will use “strategies based on evidence that prevents violence and crime before they occur”. Among the main priorities of the new agency, as indicated by Mamdani in a campaign video, will be to expand armed violence programs, to tackle hatred and to combat homelessness. The agency would also deploy mental health agents in metros and deformation points, which, according to him, will make us all safer “.
He is also committed to instituting universal universal daycare services for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, as well as to increase wages so that child care workers are tied with public school teachers.

Other priorities include its commitment to defend a law to increase the minimum wage in New York to $ 30 an hour by 2030 and expand the financing of hateful violence prevention programs by 800%.
Another major principle of the Mamdani platform is the “City of Trump” New York. He made the headlines in March, when the authorities had to hold him back while he was screaming and verbally reprimanding the Trump border, Tsar Tom Homan, who visited the New York State Capitol building.
His website indicates that the application of the immigration law of President Donald Trump, the prices and other policies “tear the fabric of New York”.
The Mamdani website stipulates that it will strengthen the city of the city of the city by cutting the ice of all the city’s facilities and by ending any cooperation with the agency, as well as increasing legal support for immigrants and protecting their personal data.
Its website also indicates that, as mayor, Mamdani will make New York a city of the LGBTQ + sanctuary and will protect “reproductive rights”.
The New York Democrats say that the candidate of the town hall Zohran Mamdani “too extreme to direct”
Perhaps even more controversial, however, the political positions that Mamdani recommended before, but has not made any central parts of his campaign.
During his campaign, Mamdani tried to justify the use of the expression “globalizing the intifada” and remained firm in its support for the boycott led by the Palestinians, the divestment and the sanctions against Israel, calling it a “legitimate movement”.
He has already called to finance the New York police service, although he has since said that “police have an essential role to play”. After the death of George Floyd, Mamdani tweeted on June 8, 2020, that he did not want to reform the police but said: “We want to finance the police.”
In another tweet later this month, Mamdani wrote: “We do not need an investigation to know that the NYPD is racist, anti-Queer and a major threat to public security. What we need is #defundthenypd … No for the false cuts-Finance the police.”
In November 2020, Mamdani tweeted again: “Queer liberation means finance the police”.
In 2020, Mamdani also asked that the penitentiary system be dismantled, saying that it is a system that cages and kills those who simply try to “survive”.

“As socialists, we believe that people should not have to bear the violence and coercion of a criminal legal system which supports the exploitation of the market by examining, in cage and by killing those who fight to survive under capitalism,” he said, adding, “we can abolish this system.”
He called on the New York State Assembly to combat the construction of any new prison and rather invested these funds in communities “which were affected by mass incarceration”.
Again in 2021, he said: “Our penitentiary system is based on dehumanization and brutality, so the objective must be to completely abolish this operating system. We must #Decarceratenow.”
Mamdani also called to abolish private health insurance and medical invoices, saying: “Now is not the time to put the ideology of capitalism above to help those who need it most.”
In addition to calling less police and less incarceration, Mamdani also tweeted in 2022 that “we must prohibit all weapons”.
He also called for legislation to decriminalize sex work, to allow “safe injection sites” for drug use, to reborn the condemned and to put an end to any cooperation with ice.
After Mamdani’s victory over Cuomo on Tuesday evening, many now express the alarm that his political proposals could materialize if he is unable to dislodge the mayor in office Eric Adams, who presents himself for a re -election as an independent.

In an article on X, the deputy Elise Stefanik, Rn.y., who should largely plan a GOP governors’ race in New York in 2026, called Mamdani a “radical, failure, communist, antemis rage.” She blamed Mamdani’s rise in power against the Democratic Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, who, according to her, will have this dangerous madness “.
Representative Mike Lawler, RN.Y., also sounded, calling Mamdani a “radical and anti -Semitic socialist” and predicting that “Exodus will start from New York as Zohran Mamdani manages it in the ground”.
Meanwhile, Mamdani praised and congratulations from several big national names, such as representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Dn.y., and Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Who both approved his candidacy.

Adams also commented on Mamdani’s victory, saying: “What NYC is a mayor who is proud to run on his file – not the one who has run from his record, or the one who has no file. We deserve a mayor who will continue to drive crime, support our police, fight anti -Semitism and defend himself for New Yorkers.”
“It’s time to unite. It’s time to fight. We have a city to save,” said Adams.
The Mamdani office did not respond to the request for comments from Fox News Digital at the time of publication.
