New York Governor Kathy Hochul – Once the Lieutenant Governor under Andrew Cuomo – said on Sunday that she had identified “alignment zones” with the first Democratic mayor of New York Zohran Mamdani.
The animator of “Fox News Sunday”, Shannon Bream, asked Hochul if she supported Mamdani, who was now running against Cuomo and others, after noting how the candidate congratulated him for welcoming the Democratic legislators of Texas who fled the state to dissuade a plan of redistribution of the GOP.
“We still have many differences. I don’t know how you blanch,” said Hochul. “He can agree with me, and many people agree, and I think it is not only the Democrats who say that the New Yorkers defend our rights. We do it. This is what we are wired. We are fighters. I am a mom of Buffalo. I assume that they are not used to taking a Buffalo mother, perhaps.”

“There are many areas of disagreement, but there are also areas of alignment, including affordability,” added the governor of Mamdani. “You know, his election has touched a nerve. And people have said, you know what, we just don’t take front. And Trump policies that have been promised to go up people, reduce costs, not touch Medicaid, make sure that the prices create jobs, none of this has happened.
As governor, Hochul said that she had already worked with two different mayors from New York, and she will continue to “work with who the voters want, and I will make him work”.

“I will make it work because I will not go to war with the 8 million residents of New York that I also represent, so my job is to calm things down,” said Hochul. “Let us see what are the results of the elections, but people must recognize that the candidate for the mayor has also touched a nerve and we must be sensitive to that. So I am aligned with him that we must start to find ways to make life more affordable for New York.”
Hochul assumed the role of the governor after Cuomo resigned in the midst of multiple controversies and was then elected to a complete term.
