The National Rifle Association (NRA) sounded on information that Trump administration is considering a means of limiting the ability of transgender people to buy firearms.

The Lobby Fire Lobby Group, the most important in the United States with 5 million members according to its website, published a statement on Friday reinforcing its commitment according to which all the Americans respectful of the laws have the right to carry weapons.

This occurs while officials of the Ministry of Justice have had several internal meetings to impose restrictions on trans people following the shooter of the Robin Westman Annunciation School, who identified as trans, killing two people and injuring 18 others at the end of last month. Westman’s firearms have been legally purchased, according to The Associated Press.

“The NRA supports the rights of the second amendment to all laws that respect the laws to buy and use firearms,” the statement said.

“The NRA does not support and does not support the proposals for policy which implement fire weapons prohibitions which arbitrarily exceed citizens respecting the laws of their rights of the second amendment without regular procedure.”

In addition to the NRA, the owners of America’s firearms (GOA) published a clear and uncompromising position on the issue.

“Goa is opposed to all weapons prohibitions.

In another article, the group cited the main vice-president Erich Pratt saying: “The owners of firearms in America do not compromise with our support for the right of all people to keep and bear their arms.”

The National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR), another large group of firearms lobbies, has not officially weighed on the issue, but its president, Dudley Brown, said that he is opposed to the idea. He argued on X that the labeling of “mentally defective” people to strip them of firearms rights would be a violation of treatment.

The conversations of MJ officials are at an early stage and no concrete measure has been taken, several sources told Fox News. A source highlighted a “scheme” of fire made by transgender people, including Westman’s attack.

Audrey “Aiden” Hale, who identified himself as transgender, killed six in the Covenant School of Nashville in 2023. Alec McKinney, a transgender teenager, was one of the two shooters of the Stem school in Colorado, where a person was killed, and eight others were injured.

Another source said that DOJ’s discussions on the prohibition of transgender persons to buy or have firearms involved the office of legal advisers, which provides legal advice to the executive embrasure.

The source said that MJ officials are currently thinking about an achievable legal framework. Such discussions were likely to hug in the alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives office (ATF), which is part of the DOJ and has authority on federal rules linked to firearms.

Asked about the talks, a spokesperson for the DoJ, minimized discussions by targeting transgender people, telling Fox News that the ministry examined many options to cope with the correlation between fire and mental health, but that he has found nothing specific.

“The DoJ actively assesses the options to prevent the scheme of violence that we have found by people with specific mental health challenges and drug addiction disorders,” said the spokesperson. “No specific proposal for criminal justice has been advanced at the moment.”

One of the sources said that MJ officials “examine the means to ensure that sick people suffering from gender dysphoria are unable to obtain firearms while they are unstable and sick.”

People with mental health problems are generally not prohibited from buying firearms under current laws, which the Supreme Court has reaffirmed as recently as in 2024 in United States v. Rahimi. But in some cases, such as a court considering a mentally incompetent person, this information is supposed to occur during an audit verification and prevent a customer from obtaining a license in firearms.

LGBTQ defenders called on the idea of an erroneous and dangerous ban, arguing that the vast majority of mass shootings in the United States are carried out by men and do not imply transgender people.

“Transgender people represent less than 2% of the global population, but four times more likely to be victims of crimes,” said Glaad. “Everyone deserves to be themselves, to be safe and to be free of violence and discrimination. We all deserve leaders who prioritize keep us all safe and free.”

Since President Donald Trump returned to functions, his administration withdrew transgender people from the military service, rubbed certain federal websites from these mentions and tried to negotiate the sex marker on passports. The administration has also vehemently opposed organic men to participate in female sports and to reduce access to so-called affirmative care.
