North Korea warns us: no Trump speaks if nuclear weapons on the table

Kim Jong-un’s powerful sister spoke of relations with the second Trump administration, warning the United States not to try to restart talks to the fact that North Korea abandons its nuclear program.

Kim Yo Jong, in the remarks exploded by the state media, said that relations between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Une are “not bad”, but that Pyongyang considered any attempted pressure from North Korea to denuclearize as “nothing but mockery”.

She said that the nuclear arsenal of North Korea has increased sharply since the last word Trump and Kim, and that the pair would not meet for a summit if the denuclearization was on the table.

The sister of the North Korean dictator has not excluded bilateral talks entirely – as she did with South Korea in a separate declaration.

“If the United States does not accept modified reality and persist in the failed past, the United States meeting will remain a” hope “of the American party,” said Kim Yo Jong, referring to the nation by its official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

She said it would be “advised to ask for another way of contacting”.

Trump held three unprecedented summits with the North Korean leader whom he nicknamed “Little Rocket Man” during his first mandate: in Singapore in 2018, Hanoi in 2019 and in the Korean demilitarized area in 2019, becoming the first president to take a step in the North Korean territory.

None of the meetings led to breakthroughs: North Korea has kept its nuclear weapons, and the United States has left sanctions which isolated it from the international markets in place.

Kim Yo Jong is one of the senior officials of the Central Committee of the North ruling workers and manages relations with the United States and South Korea.

Kim Yo Jong’s comments came after an article published by the Yonhap news agency cited an unnamed manager of the White House saying that Trump “remains open to engage with leader Kim to make a fully denuclenceed North Korea”.

The White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that last month, Trump would like to “progress” this term during the heights he held during the first mandate.

In a statement commemorating the 72nd anniversary of the end of the Korean War on Monday, Trump said: “I was proud to become the first president in office to cross this demilitarized area in North Korea.”

He underlined the American alliance with South Korea.

“Although the evils of communism still persist in Asia, the American and South Korean forces remain united in an alliance to date to date.”
