NEW YORK, New YorkAt least 100,000 people took to New York’s Times Square on Saturday for the “No Kings” protest, and Fox News Digital spoke to more than a half-dozen of them about why they took to the streets to rally against President Trump.

“Because I’m American and I’ve learned from history, unlike a lot of other people in this country. History repeats itself,” a man named Ed told Fox News Digital when asked why he came to the rally.

“People don’t seem to understand this, and we’re on a slippery slope, probably already halfway there, and if we don’t stand up and protest and spread our message across America, we’ll just be another one of what Trump called the shithole countries. That’s where he’s leading us.”

The rally was peaceful as demonstrators gathered in Times Square and marched down 7th Avenue holding various signs, some more inflammatory than others.

We have a fascist government in America supported by a fascist media,” a man named Brad told Fox News Digital. “And people need their voices to be heard. There is this idea that Trump represents America. He stands for no such thing, he stands for hate, he stands for everything that is against the Constitution, everything that our values are based on, and he stands for himself and his friends and not the great American people. »

A woman named Nicole told Fox News Digital that part of her motivation for attending was that she was recovering from cancer and her husband had recently been diagnosed with cancer and said she received notice that her health insurance would be canceled in July 2026.

“So we can bomb random boats off the coast of Venezuela, spend all this money to terrorize people, so we can deprive families of food and health care,” Nicole said. “It’s disgusting.”

Laura, who said she was from Seattle but was vacationing in New York and decided it was important to come to the rally, told Fox News Digital of her belief that if people don’t “collectively” spread the message of disapproval, “then we’re just going to give up.”

“Might as well lean in,” Laura said, adding that she is married to a woman and fears that under Trump, that marriage “is no longer valid.”

“That’s some fucking bull,” Laura said.

Fox News Digital saw a man dressed in yellow place an Antifa sticker on a street sign as protesters walked by. Several social media users posted signs mentioning Antifa, which Trump designated as a domestic terrorist organization earlier this year.

Many signs at the protest used the term “fascist” to describe Trump and several called Trump and members of his administration “Nazis.”

When asked if it was fair to call Trump a “fascist,” Laura said, “I mean, he does some shit that goes against what our Constitution says.”

“He’s circumvented a lot of the checks and balances of our government. That, I mean, it’s just, it’s ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that everyone who is in his cabinet has no experience, no intelligence, no consistency. It’s just a joke, so yeah.”

A man named Edgar told Fox News Digital that “democracy is at stake,” while another man, Lenny, called Trump a “fool” and a “clown.”

Large crowds gathered in major cities across the United States on Saturday with anti-Trump protesters trying to argue that Trump is a king who has overstepped his authority.

The “No Kings” movement first gained national attention in June, when similar protests took place in response to the military’s 250th anniversary military parade.

Trump, along with Republicans in Congress in recent days, has renounced the label “king.”

“They say they consider me a king. I’m not a king,” Trump told Fox News on Friday.

Asked about the protests and whether National Guard units would be deployed to manage the crowds, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital: “Who cares?
