California governor Gavin Newsom, Democrat, argued on Tuesday that President Donald Trump and his administration had a “relentless California obsession”.

In a letter to the State Legislative Assembly, Newsom praised the achievements of the State during the state of the state of the state of its 175th anniversary of the State. The governor also published a clip of himself offering a shortened version of the address on social networks.

Newsom did not give an official speech of the state of the state over the past three years, despite decades of tradition to do exactly that. Rather, he opted for pre -recorded letters and videos.

“We are now nine months in a battle to protect the values that we have the most expensive and to preserve the economic and social foundations that we have built for California,” wrote Newsom. “We are faced with a federal administration based on incompetence and malicious ignorance, which seeks the death of an independent thought.”

California was a target for Trump administration on issues such as immigration, in which federal raids targeting migrant workers during the summer have triggered protests against arrests and deportations. Newsom pushed the heads with the administration during its decision to deploy the National Guard and the Marines in the Los Angeles region to respond to demonstrations and support the application of immigration.

The federal government has also reduced the financing of the high -speed high -speed railway project at the state’s long speed of the state, returned the rule of the State prohibiting the sale of new gas vehicles and continued the State on a law which allows transgender girls to compete with the sports teams corresponding to their gender identity rather than on their biological sex.

California, for its part, brought 41 prosecutions against the administration.

Earlier this year, state legislators approved to give $ 50 million to the State Ministry of Justice and other legal groups to help preserve its progressive policies.

Newsom said California also calls into question the president’s decision to suspend funding at the University of California in Los Angeles, on anti -Semitism allegations on campus and positive action.

“It would be a mistake to think that California curled up in the face of this attack,” said Newsom.

The governor’s letter also detailed what he described as state achievements, including state resilience and rapid recovery effort after forest fires in Los Angeles earlier this year, as well as progress in technology, green energy and education.

Newsom also welcomed the tens of thousands of young state volunteers and a tax credit program to bring Hollywood Productions.

State Republicans argued that Newsom, considered a potential presidential candidate in 2028, focuses more on strengthening his national profile rather than the problems of Golden State, with James Gallagher, the head of the Gop of the State Assembly, citing the current budgetary deficits of the State, his shelter and the high cost of life.

“Stop refusing to introduce yourself and do the work to be governor,” said Gallagher in a video published on social networks.

Gallagher also criticized Newsom’s push for a chamber redistribution plan in the United States to stimulate Democrats and potentially gain control of the Chamber before the mid-2026. The decision of the California legislators was made in response to a similar effort by Texas Republican legislators.
