California Governor Gavin Newsom is going to South Carolina this week to spend two days meeting state voters who officially held the first primary on the 2024 Democrat calendar.
The journey of the governor in the long term limited with a large national profile is sure to arouse many speculations of 2028, because Newsom is considered a potential competitor for the next Democratic presidential appointment.
The Democratic Party of South Carolina, which announced the two -day swing, said that Newsom will participate on Tuesday and Wednesday in Meet and Greet, to shake hands and answer questions, for eight stops in cafes, cafes and churches.

“The SCDP presents itself on the road with Gavin Newsom. We make stops through the state to speak with families everywhere in SC. It is your chance to connect, to be heard and to feel seen,” the state party wrote in a social media position last week.
This is part of the efforts of the State Party to bring the national democrats to certain parts of South Carolina which, according to them, have long been neglected and “left” by republican officials in the state dominated by the GOP.

“Governor Newsom directs the largest economy in America and the fourth in the world, and he comes to meet people in the cities that have been hollowed out by decades of republican control,” said the president of the State Party, Christal Spain, in a statement.

Newsom stopped in South Carolina in January of last year to campaign on behalf of the president of the time, Joe Biden, during the presidential primary in 2024 of the State. Newsom also went to Nevada, another early voting state in the party’s main calendar.
And Newsom also traveled last summer in the name of Biden to the New Hampshire, the state that for a century held the country’s first presidential primary.
The former President was the democrats’ hablestones in 2024 before abandoning the race last July following a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump, the president now. Vice-president Kamala Harris replaced Biden at the top of the National Democratic ticket.
South Carolina, New Hampshire and Nevada are competing for the start position in the next presidential electoral cycle, and the National Democratic Committee should decide their 2028 calendar in early 2027.

It is believed that Newsom has long housed national ambitions and is considered one of the many Democrats who could present themselves to the presidential appointment in 2028 of the party.

The two -day swing through Southern Carolina will give Newsom the opportunity to establish links not only with voters, but also with the local party and elected officials. Relations made this week could possibly pay dividends on the road to Newsom if he finally decides to launch a presidential campaign in 2028.
