The Democratic candidate, Zohran Mamdani, obtained his latest approval from the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) during his New York mayor campaign on Wednesday morning.

The Syndicate’s director of 200,000 members representing teachers and education professionals in New York voted to approve Mamdani on Tuesday. Describing the disparity of New York’s wealth as a “crisis”, the president of the UFT, Michael Mulgrew, said that Mamdani was the candidate to support students and inaugurate the city.

“Donald Trump would like nothing more than continuing to hack one of the light tags in our city, which is our education system,” said Mamdani on Wednesday.

Earlier this year, President Donald Trump signed an executive decree to considerably reduce the Ministry of Education, fulfilling a key campaign promise in 2024. The New York Democrats, including Governor Kathy Hochul, who has not yet approved Mamdani, slowed against the upheaval.

“To have this approval a few months from the general elections, it shows New Yorkers the choice they will have in November: a choice between me and the Level 6 architect in Andrew Cuomo (and) a choice between me and a mayor that this The Union was to continue To really put this money back in the schools of mayor Eric Adams. “”

But not everyone was so convinced Wednesday, because the reactions to the approval of the Union of Education were flooded.

“Mistes, disgusting, but as completely without surprise that the commander at the head of @UFT would support their colleague and her program. The republican councilor of the city of New York Inna Vernikov said on x.

The author and professor of university law David E. Bernstein has undermined the effectiveness of the UFT, the writing: “Notice how much the teacher union agenda has to do with the improvement of education or everything that would benefit students directly.”

And some New York Jewish educators criticized approval. Moshe Spern, president of the united Jewish teachers, said to the New York Post“We understand that Mamdani’s campaign promises are attractive to UFT, but many feel disappointed with this selection.”

In addition to the announcement of approval, the Mamdani campaign boasts the support of more than a dozen unions across the city, including the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council (HTC), Seiu 32BJ, New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) and the New York City Central Council (AFL-CIO).

Mamdani was examined for his radical policies since he obtained democratic appointment last month. Since then, his personal education file has also attracted headlines.

After pointing out that Mamdani identified himself as “Asian” and “Black / African-American” in his request at the University of Columbia, his SAT scores proved below the median score of students admitted to the school, according to a new report.

Independent journalist Christopher RUFO said on Monday that, according to Mamdani’s request from Columbia, he scored 2140 out of 2400 at SAT, which was below the median score of students admitted to the university in 2009.

Mamdani criticized his opponents, mayor Eric Adams and former governor Andrew Cuomo, to focus on politicians rather than the people they serve.

“I think that 2140 is a fine SAT score, but I think that the Adams War Hall is very focused on each little thing they can talk about. In the end, their goal is on the old tweets (or) on something other than what we really campaigned on (and) the promises I made on Wednesday.

“These are the promises I will be judged on, and they are promises to freeze the rent, make buses quickly and release, deliver universal guard services.

Adams did not immediately respond to the request for comments from Fox News Digital.
