The candidate of the Democrat mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, continues to browse the comments prior to the defense of the police, including during a national evening against crime in the city on Tuesday evening, but his opponent, the mayor Eric Adams, does not buy him.
“You cannot become a pro-public security when you decide to go to the mayors.
“So, you just say things to be elected, or do you say things you think? Go watch my 30th birthday, and you will see the consistency of what I want in this city around security. Don’t brill out what works,” he continued.
Mamdani’s police attempt continues after Adams asked, “Where was he?”

Mamdani faced intense backlash after shooting 345 on avenue Park last month in Manhattan, while five people, including the suspect and NyPD officer Didarul Islam, were killed.
“”I said that since the start of the campaign, it is my conviction, and each time there have been tweets that were mentioned many years ago before being an elected official, I am very clear, as I said last week, that they are out of step with my candidate positions, “he told journalists during the event.
On the campaign track, the Democrat maintains his position according to which there should be a creation of a Ministry of Community Security to cope with certain emergency issues related to mental health, as opposed to the police.

He reiterated his position at a press conference with senator Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Saying that “forced overtime” on Monday is a main contributor to the police leaving the NYPD, and that he wants to “allow the police to respond to serious crimes and to hire mental health professionals to answer mental health calls”.
He also approached it during his remarks during Tuesday’s event, adding that “if we want our officers to be able to respond to the serious crimes they have registered to join the department to address each other, then we must stop asking them to answer almost all the failures of the social security net.”
“We do not need an investigation to know that the NYPD is racist, anti-reservoir and a major threat to public security,” he posted on June 28, 2020. “What we need is #defundthenypd. But your compromise uses budgetary tips to keep as many cops as possible on the pace. No for false cuts-Falls the police.”
“We need a socialist municipal council to finance the police,” he wrote on July 3, 2020.

“The municipal council tried to ensure that the NYPD half reduced its budget in overtime,” Mamdani published on X in December 2020. “They simply refused.
During his race for the mayor, he changed his position five years ago, including during a debate during the fiercely competitive democratic primary.

“I will not finish the police. I will work with the police because I think the police have an essential role to play in the public service, public security,” he said at the time.
Mamdani is in a race closely regarded against Adams, who is himself a former police officer. In addition, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo presents himself as independent after losing democratic primary against Mamdani, and Republican Curtis Sliwa is the Republican candidate in the November 4 elections.
