Staten Island, NY – In the heels of another fatal shooting in New York, Mayor Eric Adams told Fox News Digital that he was not worried about the federal intervention in the New York Police Service (NYPD).

On Monday morning, Adams announced an expansion through the NYPD quality of life division, a program that aims to clean without shelter camps, to approach the consumption of open -air drugs and to respond to noise complaints, among other problems related to public security.

The announcement was made one day after a fatal shooting in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Adams confirmed on Monday that 14 victims have now been identified, including three deaths.

Trump moved to federate the Metropolitan Police Department last week, sending hundreds of troops from the National Guard and Federal Agents to Washington, DC, to fight crime and “embellish” the city.

“As we have repeatedly indicated, we have had this,” said Adams about New York’s ability to fight crime without the involvement of the federal government. “Our figures speak for themselves.”

Despite these statistics, a Midtown Manhattan shot shocked the city last month when four people were killed.

Adams said on Monday That New York needs “aid at the federal level to deal with the flow of illegal firearms in our streets”.

And he deplored that when a “person leading through the country and wreaks havoc with an illegal pistol”, like the suspect in the Midtown shooting, it “really hurts these cities”.

But Adams remained confident, telling Fox News Digital that “our figures are clear. We are ready to share what we do successfully here with other cities, and we have already done so.”

The mayor, who presents himself to his re-election as an independent candidate, said that the city can collaborate with the federal authorities and that “New Yorkers manage the crime crisis”.

“We are an example of what all cities can do, but we do not respond to some of the things we read on this subject,” said Adams, referring to the repression of Trump’s crime in the national capital.

The NYPD launched its quality of life division, or Q-Teams, April 14. Adams and the NYPD commissioner Jessica Tisch said that these teams have made “significant improvements to the concerns of the quality of life of New Yorkers”.

Several status islanders who attended Monday morning’s announcement confronted Adams with complaints concerning their quality of life.

A woman told Adams that the floors of her building had not been cleaned, the garbage had not been picked up, that the elevators did not work and she had no hot water in her building on Monday morning.

Adams told residents to train an association of tenants and promised to set up a meeting with them to discuss problems concerning their community.
