A former member of the New York Democratic Assembly, which now heads the New York Association, told Fox News Digital that the socialist candidate for town hall Zohran Mamdani, the rent of the rents would be disastrous for the city’s housing crisis.
“His proposal to freeze the rent on housing stabilized to the rent, which represents almost 40% of the stock of housing in New York, a stock of housing which is already under the stress by which the Nyu Furman Center has classified as 200,000 units functionally in bankruptcy. A rent frost would be the highlight in the coffin in this stock of housing”, told Nyaa Kenny Burgos Digital News.
“So, if he tries to achieve affordability, what he will rather achieve is insolvency.”
Mamdani has Criticism Face Of some experts on their plan to freeze the rent for some New York tenants.

His campaign website declares: “As mayor, Zohran will immediately freeze the rent of all stabilized tenants, and use all the resources available to build the needs of New York accommodation and repress the rent. The first reason why the families of workers leave our city is the housing crisis. The mayor has the power to change this.”
Burgos told Fox News Digital that the housing problem first was “perpetuated by the government”.
“”The government controls most of the costs that enter housing, the most important of which is property taxes and with regard to housing stabilized to rent, the government caps the income from this accommodation, said Burgos. The first step is the property tax. The next one will be an insurance, so we can talk about the workforce, the fuel, the water. There are a multitude of costs on which the government has an impact, and we must have these conversations rather than simply placing rents. “”

Burgos told Fox News Digital that his organization represents owners of all sizes, small properties to the big one, many of whom have been working for decades, and they told him that the current situation was the “worst crisis” since the 1970s.
“So Whhen You Have A Potential Mayor Who’s Coming In and Whose Number One Policy Position is to freeze the back, the very income that this housing run While All Other Expensures continues to Increase at Extremely High Levels, Even Higher Thani Inflation, and we are Headed for a cliff that we may Not Be Able to Get Back off of, and when you talk about New York City’s Housing Problem As A Whole, Not Just Around Stabilized Housing, but it has public Housing and All Other Housing Involved, I Mean, This is a disaster that is waiting to perform, “said Burgos.
Burgos stressed his conviction that the “irony” of Mamdani’s proposal is that the low -income and the working class voters, that Mamdani defended campaign stops, will in fact be injured by his housing policies.

“Unfortunately, this crisis is done strongly in some of the low -income districts, in particular colored communities and although they would absolutely benefit from a potential relief of the increase in bills, we can talk about this relief thanks to targeted government programs,” said Burgos, who served the assembly with Mamdani.
“But when you cover it, you actually submit these individuals and families to lower housing and potentially the collapse of their building. It is therefore one of these short -term dressings that are found in a really long -term injury.”
Burgos told Fox News Digital that he understood that housing is one of the main problems with which New Yorkers are confronted, but argued that the answer “simply does not give slogans” but rather “approaching the affordability and the fight against front costs”, which sometimes implies “really difficult conversations”.
Burgos continued by explaining that the majority of New York funding comes from land taxes and that Mamdani will find it difficult to make his “major ticket proposals” with a housing plan that will decimate and destroy “the very accommodation that supports this funding.
Fox News Digital contacted Mamdani’s campaign to comment.
