New clear protein drinks challenge traditional milky protein shakes

Proteins appear in everything, popcorn and tortilla croustilles with coffee and ice cream, and now a new shape is bent for attention.
Protein -rich grocery articles have increased in popularity in the past year, buyers looking for products that support muscle repair, immune function and metabolism. Long a basic food in fitness circles, protein shakes – generally made from lactrum concentrate and to come to flavors such as chocolate, vanilla and peanut butter – offer a creamy and milkshake way to wrap nutrients.
Now, making a path under the projectors of the supplement is a clear protein, which is made from lactrum protein isolate and is delivered in ready -to -drink bottles or powders that transform water into live drinks and in the shape of juice.

The two forms are quickly absorbed compared to slower proteins such as casein or plant mixtures, although some experts say that the isolate offers a slight advantage in post-training absorption due to its purity.
“Clear proteins are not necessarily healthier by default,” Beal told Teday.com. “It’s the same protein in a lighter format.”

And the product itself is not new, she said. Clear proteins based on isolate have been used in hospitals for years, especially to help patients meet their nutritional needs when food consumption is limited.
Despite the trend, experts warn that clear proteins often contains artificial aromas and artificial sweeteners because it does not have fats and sugars that help flavor traditional powders. It can also be more expensive.

“Until we have more data to prove the opposite, none is intrinsically better,” said Manaker. “It all depends on what corresponds to your goals and your lifestyle.”

The recommended food allowance for proteins is 0.8 gram per kilogram of body weight for healthy adults. However, many experts recommend more for athletes, older adults and pregnant or breastfed women.
Because both provide essential amino acids, Manaker said they can be excellent options for those looking to increase their protein intake.
“It all depends on what corresponds to your goals and your lifestyle,” she said.
