A 20 -point peace plan proposed by President Donald Trump this week could finally conclude the war of almost two years in the Gaza Strip and see the return of the 46 hostages still held by Hamas. But that could also mean the end of the time of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the first job of the Israeli government.

Hamas must still accept the plan that Netanyahu accepted on Monday, which puts an end to the implementation of the military operation of Israel, will disarm the Hamas and pave the way to the reconstruction of the Gaza band under a Palestinian director supervised by an international coalition led by Trump.

Trump said it could be the “coronation” of the Israeli Prime Minister, but Netanyahu’s acceptance of the plan could ultimately determine whether his government collapses or finds renewed support.

In June, Netanyahu’s right coalition narrowly survived pressure for early elections, which could have led to the dissolution of his government and to advance an election for October 2026.

But in July, his government lost the majority in the Israeli Parliament after two of its parties withdrew from its coalition and left it to the control of only 50 of the 120 seats, which could constitute a significant threat if a pressure for the first elections was again attempted.

Netanyahu’s party has continued to become more and more fractured, the right -wing hard members of his party threatening to bring down his government on all the concessions made in the war against Hamas.

“They thought they were heading towards” Total Victory “on the battlefield, an Israeli military occupation in its own right, the displacement of millions of Palestinians at the great scope of the world, and possible Israeli resettlement and annexation of Gaza,” said security expert and Randi & Charles Wax Fellow at Fox News Digital.

“This new Trump plan is contrary to all their end-of-game goals-even if, at least on paper, it promises to meet many main War objectives of Israel in terms of return of all hostages, to disarm Hamas and to put an end to its reign, and to demilite and deradic Gaza,” he added.

The Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir-who resigned at the beginning of 2025 for his opposition to the cease-fire and hostage agreement which saw the release of 33 hostages before being reinstated in March-clearly indicated his desire to see the annexation of Gaza with the Israeli establishments which move and the complete elimination of Hamas.

Trump’s proposal, although it does not specifically open a path for the Palestinian state, blocks Israeli annexes plans and would grant Hamas “amnesty” and a path outside Gaza if they disarm.

On Trump’s plan on Trump’s plan, Trump’s plan, on Tuesday, condemned Trump’s plan as a “resounding diplomatic failure” and said it represented “a closure of the eyes and turning their back on all the lessons of October 7”.

“In my opinion, it will end in tears,” he said in an X position. “A leadership tragedy fleeing the truth.”

While Netanyahu faces immense pressure within his own party among those who believe that he has conceded security requests, he also faces immense opposition among the public.

Its inability to conclude a hostage agreement and its continuous aggressive military operations in Gaza have prompted many Israelis to wonder if Netanyahu has prioritized military operations, and perhaps its political ambitions, on the return of hostages that have been detained for 725 days.

Hannah stressed that he would have been “disastrous” for Netanyahu not to accept Trump’s plan, given the growing isolationism of Israel on the world scene, but also in the middle of rocky politics at home.

“It is absolutely imperative for the long-term security of Israel and, frankly, for the political future of Netanyahu to keep the United States and Trump next to it,” said, noting that Trump enjoys more popularity among Israelis than Netanyahu.

The approval ratings have shown several times that Netanyahu would be unlikely to survive an election if this occurred during the immediate mandate.

“If you think that forecasting of the American elections is difficult, you cannot even imagine predicting the Israeli elections given its multi -party parliamentary system,” said Richard Goldberg, principal advisor to the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies at Fox News Digital. “In the end, President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu seem to focus on the substance than on politics, with an agreement that would bring out all the hostages, would force Hamas to surrender and protect the long -term security of Israel.”

We do not know how the public opinion of Netanyahu could be reshaped by his acceptance of the Trump plan, in particular if Hamas also accepts and that the hostages could be returned within 72 hours, as stipulated under the proposal following a joint agreement.

The main opposition of Netanyahu and former Prime Minister, Yair Lapid, said that the number one threat confronted with the success of the plan is a “yes, but” approach.

“What threatens the plan now is not the people who say” no “, like Ben-Gvir or the Iranians, but the people who say” yes, but “, he said on X.” Netanyahu is a experienced and exhausting expert in `yes, but. ” Usually, he says the” yes “to Washington, standing in front of the Blank House, “But” when he returns home and the “base” reminds him who is the boss “.

Other opposition leaders supported Netanyahu’s agreement on the plan, including the head of the Blue and White Party, Benny Gantz, who said that his party “would not allow small politics to sabotage the plan”.

Although it is not clear how Israel will react to Netanyahu if an agreement is concluded, Goldberg argued in the end, the agreement is a victory for Israel.

“The devil is still in detail, and we lack details, but from the point of view of principles, it would be a clear Israeli victory,” said Goldberg. “When you add the requirements of demilitarization and deradicalization to Gaza and a fundamental overhaul of the Palestinian Authority, in parallel with a path to the normalization of Israeli Arabia, all high -level principles and objectives align with the interests of security and the war objectives of Israel.”
