According to the Ministry of Defense, the 800 members of the National Guard have now been mobilized in Washington, as part of President Donald Trump’s crime.
Members of the guard are not armed, according to Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wilson. They support other federal laws for applying the law and serve tasks that include “the safety of monuments, community security patrols, protection of federal facilities and officers, traffic control and embellishment control positions”.
They are located near the National Mall, from the Union station and near a US Park building in Anacostia, DC
“The scope of support can be adjusted according to the needs of our partners,” said Wilson. “It would be very similar to the mission (Los Angeles), where we can temporarily have someone, then put them back to the police.”

DC crime statistics show that violent crimes have reached a 30 -year hollow in 2024; Down 35% compared to the previous year. And this year, it is down 26% compared to last year at that time.
But some insist that statistics are inaccurate, and reality on the field tells a different story.

“Look at these 45 victims, the 19 and under, all killed by gunshots in the last 18 months at DC and tell me that the crime is declining and that we do not need an emergency accent on crimes of violence,” Pirro wrote on X, alongside an image of victims under 20 years of age.
DC police union chief Gregg Pemberton questioned the statistics showing a massive drop in crime over a period of two years.
“There is potentially a decrease in relation to the place where we were in 2023. I think it is possible that the crime has dropped. But the ministry indicates that in 2024, crime fell by 35% – violent crimes – and another 25% until August this year. It is practicing to suggest that cumulatively, we saw 60% percent in the violent crime.
