Moody pushes the repression of illegal immigrant truckers after an accident in Florida Mortel

First on Fox: A republican of the Senate wants to strengthen federal laws for commercial driving licenses after a deadly collision in Florida which killed three people.

Senator Ashley Moody, R-Fla., Consienting the laws which would retract the licenses of commercial driver (CDL) going to illegal immigrants and would strengthen English control requirements to obtain a commercial license.

“If you are a commercial truck driver in America, be able to read skill the road panels in English is not optional … This is the work,” Moody said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Moody’s Bill, The Safer Trucers Act of 2025 comes in the heels of a tragedy in Florida.

Harjinder Singh, an illegal immigrant from India, would have struck and killed three people in a semi-trailer while making illegal turn on a road in Florida on August 12. The Jackknifed trailer and collided with a mini-duties, killing its three passengers. Singh held California CDL and was previously under license by Washington’s state.

He was accused of three homicide chiefs in vehicle and three guilty manslaughter.

Some states allow migrants to obtain a regular driving license, whatever the status of citizenship, but CDLs are governed by federal law, which stipulates that proof of being a legal resident or a job authorization document is required to obtain a commercial permit.

Fox News Digital contacted the offices of Governor Gavin Newsom, D-Calif and Governor Bob Ferguson, D-Wash., To comment but did not immediately hear.

Moody’s Bill would ensure that CDLs are only awarded to American citizens, legal permanent residents or holders of a valid work visa. This would also codify the requirements for states to report their efforts to maintain the requirements for skills in English in accordance with the executive decree of President Donald Trump, from the start of this year, forcing agencies to enforce these provisions.

Federal investigators said Singh had failed skill tests in English and road signs before the collision. If states do not apply the control requirements of English, their eligibility for federal funding could be compromised.

“States must ensure that people are safe on our roads, and if they do not, they should lose federal funding,” said Moody.
