MLB News: Yankees acquire the third basic player Ryan McMahon des Rochetuses

New York Yankees have a strengthening on the path of their post-season push.

The team acquired the third basic player Ryan McMahon of Colorado Rockies in exchange for launchers from the Minor League Griffin Herring and Josh Grosz, the teams announced on Friday.

McMahon, 30, will fulfill a gaping hole that the Yankees had all season to the third goal. The Yankees obtained a .645 OPS from their third basic player this season, the eighth worst in position in the big leagues.

McMahon has only an average of the stick of .217 with 16 circuits this year, but its .717 ops is an upgrade on what Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas have provided.

Although McMahon’s overall figures are not strong, he has been better in recent times. Since May 1, McMahon has an average of .246 with 14 circuits.

Whatever McMahon arrives, he is a great defensive third goal player who, at the very least, will improve the defense on the field of the Yankees.

McMahon had spent his entire career of nine season with the Rockies.

“We cannot sufficiently thank Ryan for everything he has given to this organization and this community since we wrote in 2013. His impact on and out of the field has been great, and we wish Ryan, Natalie and Austyn that the best in the future.”

Herring, 22, has a file of 7-3 with an MPM of 1.71 in 16 departures between Single-A Tampa and High-A Hudson Valley. Herring was chosen in the sixth round of the MLB 2024 recovery.

Grosz, 22, has a file of 4-8 with an MPM of 4.14 in 16 appearances (15 departures) with High-A Hudson Valley. He was selected in the 11th round of the MLB 2023 recovery.

The Yankees (56-46) Hope McMahon will be able to give them a boost in the section while they are competing for a place in the playoffs.

The Rockies (26-76) could seek to exchange more players before the commercial deadline of July 31 while they rely on the future.
