Dallas Wings star, Paige Bueckers, called for more strict firearms control on Wednesday a few hours after a shooting out of shooting in a Catholic Minnesota church killed two and several wounded.

The suspect has been identified as Robert or Robin Westman, said sources of application of the law to Fox News. He was carrying three firearms during the attack on the Annunciation Church in Minneapolis, the authorities announced.

Bueckers, who went to Hopkins High School in Minnesota before committing to Uconn to play university basketball, addressed the shooting before the wings play Connecticut Sun.

“I sent prayers … It’s really unhappy,” she said, via Winsidr. “I hope there are more stringent laws on firearms so that parents do not have to worry about sending their children to school, people do not have to worry about frequenting the church and all these places are safe.

“It is really regrettable that armed violence continues to be a problem and there is really nothing to do on this subject. I hope and pray for stricter laws to be set up. You have to pray for people who cross things like that, for families involved. Pray so that people get this disease, this violence. It is simply very unhappy.”

Police said 17 people were injured, including 14 children. Two of the 17 people injured are in critical condition.
