President Donald Trump participated in a wave of greetings with the world leaders wishing to face the American president during his brief passage to the top of NATO.
Upon arrival, the president was greeted by the Dutch Royals – King Willem -Alexander, Queen Maxima, and their daughter Crown Princess Amalia. He became the first president to stay at the king’s palace, behind ten bosch palace.
“I had breakfast with the king and queen this morning – beautiful people,” said Trump. “I slept beautifully.”
The president said that he had left The Hague with bigger feelings towards the NATO alliance than when he had arrived.
“I came here because it was something that I am supposed to do, but I left a little differently,” said Trump. “I left here saying that these people really like their country. It is not a scam. And we are here to help them protect their country.”

He participated in photo sessions with world leaders from all over the political spectrum – a friend and an enemy – and received praise from the secretary general of NATO, Mark Rutte, who compared him to the father of the Alliance.
“Papa must sometimes use strong language,” said Rutte to defend Trump’s criticism, Israel and Iran for threatening the cease-fire he has negotiated.
The president was climbing up in the midst of warming relations with the alliance he was previously threatened. After months of fighting with Europe on defense spending and liberal policies, Trump praised the Alliance for accepting his request to increase his objective of defense spending to 5% of GDP.
“Believe it or not, the allies increased spending by $ 700 billion,” Trump said at a press conference. “”THis week, NATO allies have undertaken to considerably increase their defense expenses to 5% of GDP, which no one really thought. “”

Even Spain – the only nation not to accept to engage 5% in La Défense – obtained a relatively light radiography of the president.
“”I like Spain. I have so many people from Spain. It is an ideal place and these are great people. But Spain is … the only country in all the countries that refuses to pay. And, you know, so they want a little free ride“” He said.
It was certainly a different tone of the address of Vice-President JD Vance at the Munich Security Conference.

“The threat I am most concerned about Europe is not Russia. It is not China. This is not another external actor, “said Vance at the time.” What worries me is the threat of Europe’s retirement of some of its most fundamental values, values shared with the United States of America. “”
