Michael Whatley enters the NC Senate race with the approval of Trump after Lara Trump declined

The president of the National Republican Committee, Michael Whatley, will present himself for the siege of the GOP Senate on the GOP in the battlefield in North Carolina with the blessing of President Donald Trump, two familiar sources confirm to Fox News.
This, after the president’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, decided not to look for the siege.
The headquarters are currently held by the Republican senator Thom Tillis, who announced at the end of last month that he would not present himself to re-election in the mid-term elections next year.
The news of Whatley, which was reported for the first time by Politico Thursday morning, occurs a day after Fox News confirmed that the former governor of two Mandates Roy Cooper, a Democrat, is expected to launch a Senate campaign in the North Carolina race. Cooper’s announcement could arrive next week.

The President of the National Senatorial Republican Committee (NRSC), Tim Scott de Caroline du Sud, met Whatley to discuss the North Carolina race, a GOP agent at Fox News said.

Whatley, originally from Caroline du Nord, was president of the state GOP for five years before being elected president of the RNC last March.

Whatley said that the Battle in North Carolina “will be the number one race in the Senate across the country, with Georgia, just due to the number of media markets we have, the expenses that will be there, the fact that you have to hold the seat and that you have to take a seat in Georgia.”
“We are also going to have a difficult race in Maine. We will have the opportunity to take a seat in Michigan. So you know, there will be a number of key races, but it will be one of the country’s marquee races,” he added.
Republicans are currently controlling the Senate with a majority of 53-47.
