Despite the Democrats who protested the plan of President Donald Trump to dismantle the Ministry of Education, the Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, said that the return of education to the States is a “non -partisan problem”.

“I do not put back, because if it is only democratic states or republican states that were going well or badly, it would be one thing, but that is many states on both sides of the aisle. This is why it is really a non -partisan summer problem,” said McMahon during an exclusive interview with the summer meeting of the National Governors Association (NGA).

The Secretary of Education participated in discussions with governors of both parties in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Reunion, and her department announced the release of approximately $ 6.8 billion in federal funds previously frozen for the K-12 programs before her round table with the outgoing president of the NGA, Gov.jared Polis, D-Colo.

“It is simply incredibly important that if we will return education in the United States, we must speak to governors,” said McMahon. “What is significant for them? How can we work together? It is both sides of the aisle because, clearly, education is a non-partisan problem.”

“Each state has different needs,” said McMahon. “There is no one size, but what I hear with each governor and almost all educators is what we stress, which is literacy.”

A report by the Ministry of Education published earlier this year revealed that the reading skills of American students have continued to decrease from the Pandemic COVID-19, and their skills in mathematics have barely improved.

Despite the lamentable report, McMahon said that “the future of education is very brilliant” because the Trump administration has drawn attention to the “nation bulletin”, which reveals “how the United States does not compare itself favorably with the rest of the world”.

“The president is very eager to ensure that these levels increase, so that the United States takes its legitimate place as one of the leaders in the world,” said McMahon.

“(The teachers) work with their school councils, they work with their directors and superintendents and their governors to have the best policies in their states,” said McMahon. “This is a victory for teachers because governors already speak that teachers should be paid fairly, that they should be allowed to innovate in class, that they should not spend their time making documents and regulatory compliance. They should be able to spend this time with the students.”

“Let the teachers teach. All is fine,” said McMahon.
