The Manhattan district prosecutor Alvin Bragg beat his moderate challenger to obtain the democratic appointment to serve another mandate in his post on Tuesday.

Bragg, a renowned legal adversary of the president Donald Trump, Defeated Patrick Timmins, who had run on a more moderate platform. Timmins had criticized Bragg for omitting certain crimes, and his campaign underlined the case of a repeat offender carrying out a targeted attack against two justice officers.

Bragg, who won Tuesday primary with more than 70% of the vote, had won a conviction against Trump before his white house re -election in November. The Bragg’s office has filed a legal memorandum calling for judge Juan Merchan to put Trump’s conviction until after his second term.

“The immunity of the elected president does not exist. And even after the inauguration, the temporary immunity of the defendant as an exercise president will still not justify the extreme distribution of rejecting the verdict of unanimous guilt of the jury and to wipe the already ended phases of this criminal procedure”, the file of the court of Tuesday by the states of the Gragg’s office.

Merchant ultimately condemned Trump An unconditional release, essentially imposing any punishment: no prison, fines or probation. The penalty also preserves Trump’s ability to appeal the conviction.
