Former Governor Andrew Cuomo organized a press conference a few days before the 24th anniversary of September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York, where the speakers criticized Zohran Mamdani to associate with a Twitch streamer who declared “America deserved 9/11.”

Steps of Ground Zero in the Lower Manhattan, Cuomo was held alongside Sal Turudi, a longtime emergency medical service from New York (FDNY) (EMT) and a first answering machine of September 11 which was diagnosed later with terminal cancer.

“I call Zohran Mamdani to disavow Hasan Piker and his hateful words. His association with Hasan Piker disqualifies him to play in any role for New York, and even less one as important as the mayor,” said Tururici’s wife, Wendi, who became an EMT after September 11, said on Tuesday’s press conference.

The Cuomo campaign posted posters from Mamdani and Piker posing together this year, as well as an image of piker of its Twitch flow, where He said in 2019 This “America deserved on September 11”.

Mamdani’s campaign replied in a statement: “Andrew Cuomo knows exactly what he does. He holds a press conference to suggest that Zohran Mamdani – who is ready to become the first Muslim mayor in New York – in a way supported on September 11. It’s vile, it’s dangerous, and it’s deliberate.”

The Mamdani campaign argued that Cuomo has “used Muslims as practical punching bags for decades”.

“New Yorkers can see this for what it is – a cynical attempt to recycle the ugliest game book in our policy. Cuomo does not protect the memory of the victims of September 11; they desecate it again by arming sorrow and pain for its own ambition,” added the campaign.

Piker himself echoes the refutation of Mamdani’s campaign during his livestream on Tuesday, Reported Medicite.

“These guys are incredibly desperate, and they will become even more racist as the elections approached,” said Piker, arguing that Cuomo “was based on Islamophobia”.

Cuomo did not approach Piker’s comments directly at the Tuesday press conference, but Wendi Tururici said that the Mamdani association with Piker was not only politics, but “life and death”.
