The Maine authorities investigate after a resident said that her Amazon order has arrived containing hundreds of voting bulletins not marked last week.
The ballots, sent before the November elections, were missing by the city of Elsworth, in Maine, the same day that the woman said that she had found the ballots at her door. Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows said the state police and the FBI are investigating the incident.
“This year, it seems that there were attempts to interrupt the distribution of ballots and ballots,” said Bellows at a press conference.
“I have all confidence that the police will determine who is responsible and that any bad actor will be held responsible,” she added.

Maine’s November 4 elections present a voting initiative supported by the Republicans who would impose requirements in terms of photo identification for the vote and reduce dependence on the deposit boxes.

“This means that the Mainers must prove to be in force, and each person who supports the identification of voters and securing our elections must be released and vote by November 4 to ensure that we guarantee our elections,” said Republican State representative Laurel Libby in a statement, according to the Associated Press.

The Republicans of Maine called the FBI and the US prosecutor Pam Bondi to investigate the incident in a letter last week.
Meanwhile, Amazon said it was not responsible for the mismanagement of voting bulletins.
“Based on our initial results, it seems that this package was falsified from the outside of our execution and delivery network, not by an employee or an Amazon partner,” the company said in a press release.
