When I moved from San Diego to Portland in 2019, all that could speak to me was the rain. “It rains a lot. There is so much rain. own A raincoat? Y la lluvia? Surprisingly, I did research and I visited this city before moving, and I knew that the compromise for this magnificent greenery is a lot of humidity.
This year, I want summer in a way that my soul loving autumn rarely has. Everything was so bizarre and hard and stressful, and I just feel a beautiful swim in a corpse of water from the sun (and maybe perreo? Pour one for my youth) could repair me. I am ready for the weather that looks less like an episode of Grey’s Anatomy And more like entering Bad Bunny A verano sin ti. Quiero Sol !!
I started to make cowardly summer plans for the roof and carne asadas, and dreaming of a beach vacation. In the meantime, I will turn to books for chair trips and life by proxy via love stories (and lust) summer. Today, I recommend some of my summer romances preferred by Latin authors who took me when I needed to be taken (that works, right?). From false meetings to Key West and a background road trip to Vegas to a historic island romance between the rivals, these novels seem that summer may not be so far.

Become real, Chloé Torres By Crystal Maldonado
It’s summer before her first year at the art school, and Chloé Torres has a plan to recover her distant beasties together: a cross-country summer road trip to see their favorite group of boys in Vegas! But first, they will have to agree to go there and say real words together during the trip. Many can occur in two weeks, right? RIGHT! Because before knowing it, “Chloé wants Sienna, Ramona wants Chloé, and everything is on Fireeee.” I cannot resist a romance in a road trip, in particular one with a positivity fat, a sapphic romance, a disorderly love triangle, a representation of ADHD and various Latin identities.
A summer for the scandal by Lydia San Andres
Emilia Cruz accompanies her sister with a fancy boat party, not knowing that Ruben Torres, the darling of the literary scene and the big idiot Judgy – would be present. He has only snark and condescension to offer on the popularity of a very sexy series, which makes the rounds of society, on which he also makes a gossip newspaper that nobody knows that he is behind. Ruben is determined to extinguish the identity of its author, who – surprise! – is Emilia under a pseudonym. He begins to love him and she loves him, but neither of them knows the secret identity of the other … tension! This book made me aspire to a stay on the island (and a juicy piece of chism).

An heiress of the Caribbean in Paris by Adriana Herrera
This is the first book in the Las Leonas series by Adriana Herrera, and one of them will transport you to Paris. Belle Epoque Paris is obviously not an island of the Caribbean and perhaps not what you expected in this list, but the Vibrations of the Caribbean are strong in each of the ferocious protagonists of this historic series, from the Dominican Republic. Books offer hot novels, an intensive course in history and an exploration of the relationship of Europe with its Caribbean colonies. These books can make you want to see the city of the Enlightenment, but they made me want to travel to the DR.

But just when she decided that England is not her cup of tea (HEH), she meets Orion, a teashop clerk that shows her everything she disappeared. Again, not an island or even a Latin American place, but the Cuban culture of Lila is a large part of its history. Warning: this sweet romance ya will Make sure you want a summer crush and pastelito.

Island affair By Priscilla Oliveras
Island affair is the first of what I believe is a duology called Keys to love by an author whose novels always speak to me. In this first book, Sara Vance is an influencer of social media whose boyfriend has just baleine the meeting of her family to Key West. Her family is the genre that chooses all your perceived imperfections and its relationship status is one of them, so they calls reinforcements: a paramedical and a diving captain of the local firefighter named Luis who is ready to be his false fiancé. You know where it’s okay …

Kiss the girl by Zoraida Cordova
This is the third episode of the collection intended to be that reimage classic fairy tales. In Kiss the girlWe get one of my favorite authors when taking the little mermaid and I couldn’t like this configuration more. Ariel Del Mar and her sisters are singers in a group of girls called Siren Seven, and they have been famous since they were children. Now that Siren Seven is about to wrap her farewell tour, Ariel is ready to abandon her emblematic red wig and her glitter scene for a normal life (sing it with me now: “I Waaant Mooooore!”). But Daddy del Mar is a Killjoy and also the chief of Atlantica Records, and what he wants is thatiel immediately started her career in solo in small groups. The day before the big announcement, Ariel and her sisters sneak up for a night in the city, and this is howiel meets Eric Reyes, the main singer of a promising group. Eric has no idea who is Ariel and invites her to join him on the road for the summer, and Ariel accepts. She has never disobeyed her father before, but this chance in a different life is too good to pass. Torned between the life she knows and the life she dreams of finds her own voice?
