Texas state senator Angela Paxton announced on Thursday that she disappointed the divorce of the Attorney General Ken Paxton, her longtime husband.
“Today, after 38 years of marriage, I asked for divorce for biblical reasons,” wrote the state senator in an article on social networks.
“I believe that marriage is a sacred alliance and I have seriously looked for reconciliation,” she added. “But in the light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that she honors God or that she loves for me, my children or Ken to stay in marriage.”
Ken Paxton is currently presenting himself against the longtime republican senator John Cornyn during the GOP primary next year, in what promises to be a battle of appointment to the bruised and unpleasant Senate.

“After having faced pressure from countless political attacks and public exams, Angela and I decided to start a new chapter in our lives,” Ken Paxton said in a statement.

The Attorney General added that “I could not be more proud or grateful for the incredible family of which God blessed us, and I remain determined to support our incredible children and grandchildren. I ask for your prayers and your private life at the moment.”
While Trump has so far remained neutral in the Senate primary in Texas, the head of the majority of the Senate John Thune and the National Republican Senate Committee (NRSC) support Cornyn.

“What Ken Paxton put his family to pass is really repugnant and disgusting. No one should have to bear what Senator Paxton has, and we pray for her when she chooses to defend herself and her family in this difficult period,” said NRSC communications director Joanna Rodriguez, in a statement to Fox News.
