JUXTAPOZ – The Moon underwater: Madeleine Tonzi @ hashimoto contemporary, NYC

Hashimoto Contemporary I am pleased to present The moon underwater, A single exhibition of Los Angeles Madeleine Tonzi. the The exhibition is an investigation of distortion and relationship. The scene works as a trade, speaks to the ways we are attached to the world around us – every object is placed inside the composition that provides the meaning and context for another. This working group represents an official and conceptual distillation of the visual language in force in TONZI – where it is reduced to its most component components that provide space for each of the nuances and firm shape – a sense of clarity in a world that grows more mysterious and complicated by today.

The title provokes a visual metaphor: the moon is reflected under the surface of the water – it is placed in a contemplative state. It looks like a dream and a beautiful, but also a mirror – a mirror world that speaks to the mysterious and often nature at the present moment. Through visual reduction and self -control, the work creates a space for contemplative participation – which proves the viewer to move in the fine thresholds between what is known.

“My previous series, PetrogorTunzi says: ” LungerThis investigation continues, but it turns inward – towards our perception of truth and reality, and the role played by distortion within these structures. ”
