JUXTAPOZ – Shanee Roe: Clinging Knots @ 68 Projects, Berlin

An ideal abstraction to detect the raw and unbelievable human experience, in this exhibition, Shani Raw guides us through the complexities of intimate relationship. Its numbers are playful and disturbing, present in weakness – exposed, clinical, fragmented. The body is not glorified or hidden, but it is presented in its most honest form, and calls for a confrontation with our perceptions of beauty, desire and discomfort. Through mystery and tension, Roe challenges the romantic novels that we create about the intimate relationship, and the space of the conquest on questions about how to try sexual desire and communication. In these moments of softness and disruption, we are required to see, feel, and recognize the chaotic reality, giving to being a human being.
