The first thing I said to Nelly Scott, CEO of the company Coreta Art Center In the center of Los Angeles, which maintains and promotes it Koreta Kent Art, teaching and passion for social justice was that I hope we would not need to do so. I hope that the work of Koreta Kent has already done its work, and that the world was free of persecution, racism, inequality, chaos and fear. Maybe we and Niley can talk Love and butterfly, The next offer to work you are in Andrew Krebis and Kaufman Ripto In New York City this month. But in the times when they are A’changing and how they stay as it is. The Koreta New Art Center has been opened in March, and since then, Pope Francis has passed, the Temple of Democracy in America has been determined to the nearby collapse point and has protest and social awareness that struggles to find his feet. So, it’s time for Koreita Kent again.
In this conversation on JUXTAPOZ Radio Podcast Nelly Scott talks about the establishment of the center in 1997 and its connection to the pure heart society, and how Koreta Kent moved from the entry of the religious system in the heart of Mary at the age of 18, to defending civil rights, anti -war and peace activity, through the unique peak of printing. She left the matter in 1968 and moved to Boston, where she continued work. Her art and life were devoted to finding a deep understanding of the human experience, through teaching and creation. Koreta left behind a great legacy that still hesitate – at the time of her death in 1986, Corita created nearly 800 Sergrevation and thousands of watercolors, along with the general and private committees. From Boston to Los Angeles, the life of Corita is a really inspired story.
