JUXTAPOZ Magazine – A young man: Emily @ Chefas, Portland, Portland

Chefs projects I am pleased with the present Almost young peopleA series of new paintings before Emily Kepolis. Through luminous scenes that embody familiar stillness, Almost young people He contemplates the floors of time – especially his ability to suspend and transform us – and how our perception affects our experiences in everything.

For Kepulis, the moments of life between life-which is sometimes ignored as Quidien or worldly-bears the ability to charge our human experience as much as that task. Kepulis draws in the quiet spaces between one moment and the next day luster scenes tend to have a specific privacy located in the limits: a drying paper on the laundry rope moving by breeze, warm light of sunrise or sunset on the leaves of the house, wow in the middle of the flight. Its topics are coming and goes, neither here nor there, they found themselves through the transition.

While referring to family photos, previous paintings, and even the unknown images that were found, Kepulis consists of each plate with confidence and pride, allowing to reach its final form through its observations and implications. Almost young people Explores how the things around us that find us in these quiet moments constitute our perceptions of ourselves and how we communicate with the largest image as a whole.
