Through this new collection of work, Erheriene-Sessi continues with its calculated tradition of time to breathe life into inspired and neglected images, using paint, color, and animals with layers to investigate memory. The artist works through her paintings with the same skill and supervision, such as Quilter, and timing together through the texture and tone. In this new series, the flattening of the photographic source is adopted with the deepening of the emotional and color complexity of the brown leather – which emites dimensions, differences and shine on the surface.

This development is presented in RoyalA work depicting what the artist imagines to be a group of men who enjoy their last days before publishing in Vietnam. Their faces are characterized by a spectrum of shapes, prominent monuments, shadows and tones, which envelop color use as a tool for depicting emotion.

Among the archive and complex specialists first, Erierne-Sessi begins its process by mining across real estate and warehouses online for faces and short articles that you are talking to. This group has gathered through continents and oceans, from North America to Europe to Africa, which indicates the diversity of black identity, while shedding light on global moments in all our memories.

Erheriene -ssi is deeply transferred through the relationship between the diaspora, not only through geography, but through time. throughout Reflections It continues to explore for this relationship. Decorations such as the grip of black power, Tony Morrison’s face, “dismantling the apartheid” pin, all the time highlights the meaning of eternity within the collective memory.

In its dissection of memory, Erheriene-Sessi is a visual anthropologist, as she reads pictures of context guide and fill gaps with gestures of her live experience. in Memory of your youth (London Trocadero)Fans of BeyonCé’s Cowboy Carter Sitting significantly on the shirt of a girl who eats ice cream in the seventies. The development of the artist, who is integrating together in the past and present, flourishes with the serious symbols of nostalgia to the past. As an artist, she mastered her Collapse Time guarantees the continuity of culture.

These paintings were created over a period of two years, in rhythm with motherhood demands – a topic that quietly permeates the work through the lens of inheritance and inheritance. Erheriene -messi sees her active conversation, starting with paintings but is completed by activating the memory scenes.

The title of the exhibition is honored in honor of the song Diana Ross & The Supremes, a comfortable album accompanying the artist during many seasons of her life, including making this work. Most of the lyrics:

“The repercussions of the way that was life.

Reflections of love that I took from me. “

In faded colors and tense edges, Erierine-nesi develops the intention of the memory, when it is lost, and for what it should never be. Her paintings become mirrors, not from the past as it was, but as it is perceived. Reflection as a sacred work of reclamation. –Heath Fakille
