Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y., criticized the recent remarks by President Donald Trump as “disadvantaged” during a press conference on Tuesday, while the federal government is heading for a potential stop at the end of this month.

Jeffries organized media availability in his Brooklyn district, New York, after Trump canceled a meeting planned with the Democrats of the Congress on the issue of government financing.

Trump accused Democrats of having made “non -serious and ridiculous requests” in their thrust for a compromise agreement to avoid a closure.

“The declaration that Donald Trump published today was disturbed, and it was linked to problems that have nothing to do with the expense bill before the congress, and the need to try to avoid a government closure,” said Jeffries in response.

He declared at a previous time, “the leader Schumer and I are ready to meet anyone, at any time, at any place, to discuss the questions that matter for the American people and to avoid a painful closure of the government with the Republican”.

“Democrats do not support the bill for the partner of republican spending because it continues to empty the health care of the American people,” he added.

Schumer held his own press conference later in the afternoon, where he accused: “Today seems to be anger for Donald Trump.”

“Mr. President, do your job,” he said. “Stop declaim, stop these long diatribes that do not mean anything for anyone. Put people in a room and make an agreement conclude.”

The Chamber has adopted a short -term extension of the government’s financing levels for the financial year (FY) 2025 intended to maintain federal agencies until November 21, in order to give more time to the Senate and Chamber’s appropriars to conclude an agreement in the 2026.

If it is not adopted by the Senate by the end of September 30, the Congress risks diving the government in a partial closure.

The Democrats, furious while being sidelined in discussions on the bill, put pressure on the inclusion of improved subsidies from the Acto -care law (ACA) which should expire at the end of 2025 without action of the congress.

During his press conference, Jeffries also seemed to refer to the “great and beautiful law” of the Republicans, conservative legislation which has imposed new restrictions and work requirements on the coverage of Medicaid for certain valid Americans.

“Our absolute priority is to make sure that we are cutting the cuts, reducing costs and allowing health care for the American people. It is eight words – not difficult to treat for Donald Trump. Cancel cuts, reduce the cost, save health care. Eight words,” said Jeffries.

“And we were very clear that if the Republicans wanted to go rider alone, then go alone and continue to damage the American people. But as a Democrats in the Chamber, we are associated with Lockstep with (the head of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer) and the Democrats of the Senate, we are not going to participate in the republican effort to continue the health of the American people. Don’t want this. “

Jeffries and Schumer were to meet Trump on Thursday to discuss a path to avoid a partial closure of the government.

But Trump nixed the meeting in a long post on his social media platform Truth Social, where he exploded the duo for having pushed “radical policies for which no one voted”.

“I decided that no meeting with their Congress leaders could be productive,” said Trump.

“They have to do their job! Otherwise, it will just be another long and brutal slog through their radicalized moving sands. For the leaders of the Democratic Party, the ball is in your court. I can’t wait to meet you when you become realistic about the things our country represents. Do the right thing!” The president continued.

Friday, the Senate already voted against the future with the GOP GOP bill.

With 60 votes necessary to measure, at least a certain democratic support will be necessary to avoid a closure.
