A new well-being hacking bounces through Tiktok, literally. The trend, popularized by designer Kathryn Smith in a viral video, encourages viewers to start their day by jumping from bed and jumping 50 times.
Although it may seem simple, even silly, the practice has resonated with millions, arousing a conversation on the way the little movement shards can jump from energy and mood.
The Hollywood icon has used the same 12 -minute drive routine since the 1960s
“I am a lazy person by nature. I have always been. I will never do something I don’t want to do,” said Smith at the start of his viral clip.
“How I got to the point that I’m right now, very, very, very beautiful steps. So the first thing is to jump in the morning … What I do when I go out of bed, my feet touch the floor, I jump 50 times.”

Health experts say that light and accessible routines such as Tiktok’s 50 jumping can help increase blood circulation, stimulate oxygen to the brain and set a positive tone for the rest of the day. (istock)
Smith explains that it believes that practice is effective due to the speed with which it increases oxygen to your brain.
“How do you get oxygen to your brain?” she asked. “Increase your blood flow. How do you increase your blood? Access your heart rate. Jump from top to bottom.”

She adds that movement can help stimulate temperature and body traffic after sleep. “Immediately after being horizontal for, hope it, at least eight hours, what it takes? Less than a minute. Get up and jump.”
The creator also links the habit to benefits for longer -term health. “If you have the possibility of jumping, you should do it every day. It is also good for your bone density. I could continue again and again, but if you have the opportunity to jump, you should do it every day because one day you may not be able to do it.”

Many Tiktok users claim that the 50 jump method makes the mornings more energized and alerts. (istock)
Maura Macdonald, specialist in medical education for Nutrition at Thorne, a wellness and fitness service, Fox News Digital told the popularity of Smith’s approach was logical.
A simple Japanese fitness trend could add 7 years to life expectancy, say experts
“The advantages of jumping in the morning will be similar to any other form of morning movement, it will just feel much more accessible,” she said.
“It is much easier to get out of bed and jump 50 times, rather than lace your sneakers and go out for a race or go to the gymnasium and lifts.”
She noted that the success of the routine lies in its accessibility.

“It could work for people because it is an easy, accessible and low effort way to enter the morning movement, when they might skip morning training because there are other obstacles in place, like going to a gym class or exercise constraints outside where they live,” she said.
Macdonald also stressed that the practice is not limited to the morning.

“Someone can incorporate this into his routine almost each time that works for him. Movement is a movement, and generally, the movement is good for us, and we generally feel better after the exercise because it releases endorphins.”
