Reports, citing medical officials, said two shells hit Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in rapid succession. The Israeli media reported that Israeli troops had drawn artillery tours at the hospital to target a Hamas surveillance camera on the roof.

The cameraman Hussam Al-Masri, a Reuters entrepreneur, was killed near a live broadcast position on a upper floor just below the roof in the first strike, Palestinian health officials said.

Israel then hit the site again, killing additional journalists as well as rescuers and doctors who rushed to help, hospital and witnesses told Reuters.

FDI Brig spokesperson. General Effie Defrin echoes the comments of Netanyahu, stressing that the military is doing their best to mitigate civil damage while guaranteeing the security of the troops.

“We operate in an extremely complex reality. Hamas terrorists deliberately use civil infrastructure, including hospitals, like Shields,” said Defrin in a video published on social networks. “They even operated on the Nasser Hospital itself. Hamas began this war, created impossible combat conditions and prevents its end by still holding 50 of our hostages.”
