Israel has identified two of the four deceased hostages whose coffins it received from Hamas via the Red Cross on Monday and gave the causes of their deaths.

“IDF representatives informed the families of Guy Iluz, Bipin Joshi and two other deceased hostages, whose names have not yet been authorized to be released by their families, that their loved ones have been returned for burial,” the statement said. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), said Tuesday.

The Israeli military said its intelligence indicates Iluz was kidnapped alive and injured by Hamas after escaping from the Nova music festival. He later died from his injuries because he did not receive proper medical care, the Israeli military said. Iluz was 26 years old at the time of his death.

“The families of the hostages and returnees include the families of Guy Illouz and Bipin Joshi, as well as two other families whose loved ones were recently repatriated for a proper burial,” the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said in a statement.

“Along with the grief and understanding that their hearts will never be whole, the return of Guy and Bipin, may their memories be a blessing, along with that of two other deceased hostages, brings some comfort to the families who have lived in excruciating uncertainty and doubt for more than two years. We will not rest until all 24 hostages are returned home,” the forum added.

On Monday, the last 20 hostages still alive were released after more than two years of captivity. In addition to the living hostages, Hamas was supposed to hand over the remains of 28 deceased hostages by Monday, although the terror group said it would have difficulty locating all the bodies, The time of Israel reported.

The Israeli military said it “continues to make every effort to return all hostages, as Hamas is required to fulfill its side of the agreement and make the necessary efforts to return all hostages to their families for a proper burial.”

The bodies of 24 slain hostages – which may include US citizens Itay Chen and Omer Neutera – are still in Gaza.
