Costa Rica said he would be willing to accept it, and Abrego Garcia expressed this as his preference.

In 2019, an immigration judge signed an order rejecting the request for asylum of Abrego Garcia, but granted a request for a deduction of referral.
But earlier this year, the United States returned it to Salvador.
