Subjects like “Old People Sodel” and “Ozempic Sodel” have recently circulated on social networks, arousing a renewed accent on the way people react and produce perfumes.

According to experts, many foods (and not just garlic) can have an impact on how someone feels – but there are ways to mitigate the effects by food choices, according to experts.

“Certain foods have an impact on the body smell more than others,” said the New Jersey-based dietitian, Erin Palinski-Wade, in Fox News Digital.

“ The elderly feels ” is real, say the experts – here is how to avoid it as you age

Research shows that the body smell is influenced by the skin bacteria of each person and how it breaks down, according to the expert.

Here are some of the most common foods that can have an impact on its perfume.

Fish

We all know the “fish” smell of seafood, but it can also change the way people feel others.

In very rare cases, the body converts a seafood by-product called choline into a compound with the smell of fish called Trimethylamine, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

This compound moves throughout the body and is released through breathing and skin.

People with affliction, called Trimethylamury, can also produce a smell of fish after eating other foods, including beans, broccoli, cauliflower, peanuts and soy products.

“But this incredibly rare condition affects only a few hundred people, and most people will be able to eat fish without worry,” said the Cleveland Clinic website.

Vegetables

Although vegetables are largely considered as some of the healthiest food choices, they can cause an unexpected odor for some.

Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels cabbage can cause a body odor when released sulfuric acid, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The perfume is then intensified by sweat, breathing and gas.

Spices

“Certain spicy foods are known to increase body odors because of their compounds containing sulfur and their specific metabolites,” Palinski-Wade told Fox News Digital.

“When they are released, they interact with skin bacteria, which causes specific odors.”

The Cleveland Clinic notes that spices like curry and cumin contain “volatile compounds” which are absorbed by blood circulation and released through the sweaty glands, “leading to a separate odor”.

Red meat

According to Palinski, eating larger amounts of red meat can also have an impact on body odors.

Consumption of red meat can free up odor -free proteins by perspiration, but after getting involved in skin bacteria, their odor can intensify.

Foods to improve bodily odors

Not all people will feel the same body scents related to food, as genetic differences have an impact on the type and intensity of odors that can come from the consumption of certain foods, experts noted.

Foods such as apples, green leafy vegetables, yogurt and green tea can help neutralize compounds causing odors and support beneficial intestinal bacteria, which can reduce unpleasant body odors, Palinski-Wade said.

Beyond the diet, one of the best ways to improve global body odors is to bathe regularly, said the source above. Using antibacterial soap and wearing breathable tissues can also be effective.
