First on Fox: The president of the House Ways and Means Committee, Jason Smith, requests files from the popular forum, a non -profit organization exempt from tax which, according to him, has worked as a de facto foreign agent for the Chinese Communist Party (PCC) while using American taxpayers to finance protests and widespread propaganda.

In a letter sent on September 4 to the executive director Manolo de Los Santos, Smith accused the popular forum of directly arouing violence and disorders in the United States.

“Using the status of tax exemption subsidized by American taxpayers to promote foreign propaganda on behalf of a nation hostile to American interests, while simultaneously justifying terrorism, is unacceptable and potentially in violation of American law” to Fox News Digital in a statement. “The American people deserves transparency, and this committee will hold the popular forum responsible for their links with the CCP and their role in the spread of violence and chaos in our communities.”

In the hours following the massacre of October 7 of Hamas in Israel, Smith affirms that the group publicly justified terrorist attacks, declaring that the authors “have the right to resist” – a declaration condemned by the governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, “Abhorrent and morally repugnant”.

Smith now demands that the popular forum is turning by on September 18 a wide range of files, including donor lists, contracts and communications with Singham and other foreign directors. If the group refuses, it could face assignments, deposits, references to the IRS for the revocation of the status of tax exemption and any criminal dismissals to the Ministry of Justice.

The group also organized a rally of Times Square the next day which aroused national criticism. Beyond his position on Israel, Smith declared that the non-profit organization had played a role in incitement to riots and disruptive protests on university campuses, as well as violent demonstrations against immigration and customs application, including in Los Angeles where clashes with the police have led dozens of arrests.

Smith also highlighted the role of the popular forum in promoting Pro-CCP stories. The group organized events glorifying the Chinese revolution, associated with collectives aligned by Beijing such as the Qiao collective and has maintained close links with the media within the former Nille-Singham technology magnate in the pro-China influence network.

Public reports suggest that the Popular Forum has accepted $ 20 million in Singham, and his wife Jodie Evans, the founder of Pink code, from 2017 to 2022, diverted through screens and wise funds from donors, according to Smith’s letter.

Smith’s letter notes that the Popular Forum admitted to having received money from Singham, a wealthy American expatriate living in Shanghai with longtime ties from the CCP.

Smith argued that this financial structure, twinned with the activities of the non -profit organization, is equivalent to operating as an unregistered agent of a foreign power under the law on the registration of foreign agents (FARA).

The president warned that the use of exempt tax privileges to distribute foreign propaganda while acting as a foreign agent is “unacceptable and illegal”. He cited precedents in which the Ministry of Justice has charged foreign nationals for similar influence operations using non -profit organizations like Fronts.

The FBI files attached to the letter Show Singham were the subject of an investigation in the 1970s for links with groups “unusual to American interests”, while working later as a consultant for Huawei, the Chinese telecommunications giant with documented CCP links.

The People’s Forum did not respond to a request for comments.
