The room voted on Wednesday to advance a resolution in honor of the conservative activist killed Charlie Kirk, paving the way for a debate on the ground later this week.
The legislators voted in favor of the progress of the measure and a bill to avoid a closure of the government in a joint mechanism known as “voting rules”.
The rule was adopted during a 216-210 vote according to the parties. The representative Thomas Massie, R-Ky., Who is known to oppose the bill for federal financing, was the only legislator on each side to vote “present”.
Massie explained to Fox News Digital that he vehemently supports Kirk resolution, but opposed an unrelated provision in the rule which prevents the capacity of the Congress from weighing on pricing policy.

“I am a coparraine of Kirk’s resolution, and obviously, I will vote for this, but they have shamefully disabled the capacity of the Congress to vote on the prices with this rule,” said Massie.
Votes of rules are procedural obstacles which generally link unrelated exhibitions which, if adopted, allow the legislators of the Chamber to debate each measure individually before the respective votes.
The adoption of the current rule means that chamber legislators could vote on resolution to honor Kirk on Thursday or Friday.
A vote on the measure to avoid a government closure, a short -term extension of current federal funding levels called resolution or continuous CR, is expected on Friday morning.
It is not surprising that no democrat supported the adoption of the rule on Wednesday; The votes of rules traditionally fall according to the parties and have rarely seen the bipartite crossing, even if the legislation they include benefits from large support from the Republicans and Democrats.
And although Democrats are largely supposed to overthrow the government’s financing patch led by the GOP, the resolution to honor Kirk’s inheritance should obtain bipartisan support.

The founder of Turning Point USA was assassinated last week during a university campus speech in Utah.
The resolution of Honor, led by President Mike Johnson, R-La., Called Kirk as “one of the most eminent voices in America, engaging in a respectful civilian discourse through university campuses, media platforms and national forums, always seeking to raise the truth, to promote understanding and to strengthen the Republic”.

He also said that “the commitment of the civilian discussion and the Kirk debate was a model for young Americans through the political spectrum, and he worked tirelessly to promote unity without compromising the conviction”. He called his murder “a reminder that gives to think the growing threat posed by political extremism and hatred in our society”.
Democrats and Republicans have published statements condemning political violence following the murder of Kirk.

This last measure which progressed Wednesday evening, the CR, will maintain the government agencies financed at the current levels until November 21 if it is adopted by the Chamber and the Senate and was signed by President Donald Trump.
This bill includes $ 88 million combined with additional security funds for the congress, the judiciary and the executive power.
Conversations on the stimulation of the security of the legislators, in particular, were underway, but took a new urgency after the death of Kirk.
