Senator Josh Honey, R-MO., Regrets a surge in the Congress to prohibit the Chinese Communist Party from buying agricultural land and residential land in the United States on Thursday.
Hawley presents the Protecting Our Farms and Homes from China, which prohibits Chinese companies and individuals associated with the Chinese Communist Party from making such purchases. President Donald Trump’s administration has struck the Chinese property of American land in recent days, especially around US military bases.
“The ownership of American agricultural land is a direct threat to American interests,” Hawley told Fox News Digital in a statement. “We should never let the greatest opponent in our country have access to our vital resources, including our housing supply. This is why I present legislation to protect American assets from the CCP once and for all.”
Although the bill would impose a stable ban on relevant purchases of agricultural land, the prohibition of residential purchases would only apply for two years, leaving an option to the president to rewrite the prohibition every two years beyond.
Texas the last state with a law prohibiting foreign opponents from buying real estate

Senator Josh Hawley pushes to ban Chinese companies and individuals associated with the CCP from having American land.
Legislation also requires Chinese companies and people affiliated to the CCP to have affected land to sell this property within one year. It also establishes sanctions not to comply with the law, ranging from fines to outright forfeiture.
Hawley’s decision is in tandem with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) announcing its National Agricultural Security Action Plan earlier this week.

The plan is specifically intended to treat threats from foreign governments, such as China, and how these threats have an impact on American farmers. The plan has exercised executive reforms and called on the congress to pursue legislation like Hawley.

“For them, agricultural land and our farms, because they are a previous heritage, are weapons to return against us,” she continued. “We see it again and again, from the Chinese communist acquisition of American agricultural land to the criminal exploits of our agriculture system, the flight of operational information required to work on the land and beyond. All this takes what is deeply good and transforms it for perverse ends.”
