It’s been a good week for many people in Israel. Especially for the families of the living hostages released by Hamas as part of a quickly concluded peace deal.

People like Lishay Lavi-Miran. We first met her at a rally in “Hostages Square” in Tel Aviv last month. Her husband, Omri Miran, 48, also the father of two little girls, was held hostage. He was taken by Hamas terrorists from their kibbutz.

In September, she had only one message for us: “I beg for the life of Omri,” she said, “and of all the others. I beg for us, for truly all the Israeli people.

ISRAELI HOSTAGES REUNION WITH FAMILIES IN EMOTIONAL MOMENTS

On Monday, his calls were answered. An amateur video shows her exulting as she sees Omri being transferred to the IDF helicopter for the first time. The now ex-hostage looks great. And then happily finding himself in matching T-shirts with his wife. Finally, playing again with his two daughters. The six-month-old reportedly learned the Hebrew word for “daddy.”

And then there was Liron Berman. We also met him at last month’s rally. He is the older brother of twin brothers Ziv and Gali Berman, aged 28. Last month, he was convinced they would succeed.

“They will survive,” he told us, “they will be there.” We asked him if he was sure. “I’m confident,” he replied, “I’m confident.”

It paid off. Incredibly, the two men were separated after being kidnapped. And only came together when they came out on Monday. The two kiss gleefully. Their personalities intact. Ziv said he had charm. Gali loves the high life.

They then flew by helicopter to greet their families, sporting t-shirts of their favorite local football team, watching the passing scene.

FROM PAIN TO GRATITUDE: Trump praised as Israelis celebrate Hamas hostage deal in TEL AVIV

The ceasefire and hostage agreement was imposed by President Donald Trump and his team. Vindication for another person we spoke with that September day, Keith Siegel.

He himself was hostage for 484 days. He became a strong advocate for the release of the remaining hostages and a supporter of President Trump.

“Thanks to President Trump, I am here today, I am alive, I am free,” he told us. He then continued: “I call on President Trump to continue his efforts.”

What the president did.

Of course, everyone realizes that this week is just the beginning. The remains of some of the 28 deceased hostages have so far been returned by Hamas. The Gaza Strip remains a deadly disaster zone. And most of the 20 points of the peace plan have not yet been addressed.

Yet, for now at least, for many, it’s a time to exhale…and relax. Peace is good.
