Hamas releases 20 Israeli hostages from Gaza after 738 days of captivity

Following Hamas’ release of the 20 living hostages held in Gaza on Monday, photos and videos are pouring in of their families being reunited.
The hostages are back in Israel, where they will undergo medical examinations after 738 days of captivity. Their release was part of a deal to end two years of war.
When Guy Gilboa-Dalal met his family at the first reception point after his release, his family screamed and hugged him so tightly that they clung to him as they entered another room. Moments later, the group posed for a photo.
Israeli twins Gali and Ziv Berman, 28, were all smiles as they were handed over to the Israeli army and seen face to face. Previously released hostages said the Kfar Aza twins were being held separately.

Photos of the first seven hostages released Monday showed them pale but less gaunt than some of the hostages released in January.
“Generations from now, this moment will be remembered as the moment when everything began to change,” President Donald Trump told the Israeli Knesset on Monday during a speech lasting more than 40 minutes.

Trump spoke with families at the Knesset building and they expressed gratitude for helping them reunite with their loved ones.

The war began when Hamas-led militants launched a surprise attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, in which some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed and 251 taken hostage.
